USA Basketball's narrow escape—was it luck or sheer determination that led to this historic win?

And the run comes to an end! Despite France’s Gabby Williams giving Team USA a scare of their lives till the very end, the trip to Paris recorded a happy ending for us. A history spanning over decades will now continue as Team USA finally got the better of France in a hard-fought battle. Tonight was a true team effort as the debutants Kahleah Copper and Jackie Young to veterans A’ja Wilson all came together to win the eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal. And what’s left is one huge reason to celebrate this win.

Team USA did it again, they once again saved their dynasty from crumbling. Although the 40 minutes of the game were not exactly smooth for them, they did get over the rocky terrain in the extremely close 66-67 win over France. Hence, many big guns of the basketball world could not help but hoot for these queens of the court. One of them was Dwyane Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union. She wrote on her X account, “OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! This game!!!!! Congratulations USA Women’s team and big ups to France. WOW WOW WOW!! I ❤️ this game!”

Breanna Stewart, who only added 8 points to the game, also said how the most basic standard for USA basketball is winning the gold. But these were not the only ones to announce the cheerful update on the internet. In fact, the current basketball players and future faces of the USWBNT also praised the efforts of Team USA.

Everyone shouts the hurrah for Team USA

Today’s game saw a lot of ups and downs and also many uncharacteristic plays from Team USA. They had high turnovers; they committed more fouls and were not exactly their best in the offense. Nevertheless, it was the end result that mattered. And in that, they did wrap up their trip with smiles on their faces. Hence, resonating with all that, the Chicago Sky’s rookie cheered for the entire crew in Paris. Angel Reese, who was snubbed from even the talks of making the Team USA wrote, “🥇A WIN IS A WIN. CONGRATS LADIES!!! @usabasketball.”

Of course, A’ja Wilson’s USC head coach, who was present in the Bercy Arena, also shared the big news with everyone. She tweeted, That’s 8 in a row! The DYNASTY of DYNASTIES! @usabasketball #GOLDHABITS #GOLDSTANDARD”
