We’re exactly a week away from Unrivaled, and the excitement is already through the roof—even before the teams hit the court in Miami. The behind-the-scenes hilarious interactions between players have been keeping the fans hooked. It seems like every day, there’s a new fun story unfolding, and just like that, we have yet another playful exchange to laugh about from the Connecticut Sun’s newest duo—Marina Mabrey and DiJonai Carrington.
Mabrey is totally in her funny era, girl. She’s out here making the internet laugh again. The other day, she posted a GIF of avocado oil, pink salt, and black pepper with the caption, “I can finally cook.” You can already tell where this is headed, right?
Carrington saw it and replied with a hilarious comment: “BAHAHAHAHAHAHA dawg, I spit my drink out. wtf are you making with these 3 things bro??? (2x crying emoji) i gotta getchu right omg.” It’s all in good fun, though.

Later, Carrington even posted a video of a bag full of condiments with the caption, “Alright y’all, I had to run to the store and get my girl right!! Just a lil starter pack! Don’t worry, ima show her how to use em.”

Looks like we’re in for more hilarious cooking tutorials from these two. But you must remember this isn’t the first time Marina has had the internet laughing. Remember that time she posted that awkward TikTok dance video with Satou Sabally in the gym? It went viral, and Reese, the TikTok queen, wasn’t about to let it slide.
She jumped in and said, “Marina, I think you can do better (2x cring emoji) (1x laughing emoji),” to which Marina responded, “I deffff can imma try again tmrw.” And speaking of Reese, she’s also been having her own fun moments. The Chi-Town Barbie has been forming bonds with her Rose Club squad, and the chemistry between her and Kahleah Copper is off the charts.
They are now considered the “front runners for unrivaled comedic duo” by Copper’s team. And it all kicked off with a cheeky post from Reese, where she called Copper “Grandma” in reference to her veteran status. Reese jokingly said, “Grandma, you can always come… nvm we got 10 weeks to chat.”
The veteran fired back with a laughing emoji and told the rookie to take a “timeout.” Honestly, if this team doesn’t win the Unrivaled title, they’ll definitely win the title for the funniest one.
However, the Sun teammates, who are now lacing up for different clubs, must be the highlight because they’re neither the ‘long-term bestie duo’ nor the ‘newly formed team’. They are the ultimate enemies turned best friends duo.
How did DiJonai Carrington and Marina Mabrey go from enemies to besties?

When Marina was traded to the Sun, fans were curious about how her relationship with Carrington would turn out, especially given their past. These two were known for their fiery exchanges on the court, with DiJonai once complaining about a foul call and Marina telling her to “Shut the f–k up.” But now, it seems like they’ve put that all behind them.
In fact, their interactions during the WNBA season have been so playful and fun that it’s hard to believe they ever had beef. The real confirmation that these two are now best friends came when Marina was asked about her relationship with Carrington in an interview. She confidently declared, “Well, me and Nai are best friends.”
DiJonai replied with, “here she goessss (3x laughing emoji).” Their relationship took a complete 180 turn as they now enjoy each other’s company, and fans can’t get enough of their playful banter. Even though they play for different clubs in Unrivaled—DiJonai on Mist and Marina on Phantom—we hope exchanges like these keep coming.
