Not many of the WNBA stars could make it into the lean operation of the Unrivaled League. One such case was Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky teammate. Although they are among the best-performing hoopers in the WNBA, the league did not propose their participation. “I was not invited to unrivaled. I didn’t get picked 🙃,” they announced on X last year. However, true talent shines wherever it goes.

Chennedy Carter is currently playing for Wuhan Shengfan in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). Her latest triumph was against Hefei. She delivered an amazing performance by achieving her first triple-double of the season.  Carter made 33 points with 10 assists, and 17 rebounds. Carter announced her achievement on X, “first triple double of the szn[season] in a must win game tonight !!! 33pts/10asst/17rebs !!!!”

Though she was not chosen for the Unrivaled League, Carter has been showing her prowess in China. She is the leader in scoring in the WCBA for the 2024–2025 season, averaging 31.4 points per game, including a high of 44 points in one game.

Chennedy Carter is consistently increasing her value in the Chinese league with her all-star performances, especially considering her uncertain future with the Chicago team. She was waived by the Los Angeles Sparks in March 2023 and did not play in the WNBA that season. The Chicago Sky has signed her for the 2024 season, to be coached by Teresa Weatherspoon. For now, her talent continues to shine through the WCBA league.

However, in the ever-changing landscape of basketball, nothing can be too permanent. It’s still quite possible that Carter may end up with the Unrivaled in the future given her immense potential. For now, let’s talk about someone who did get into the new league but is luck really on their side?

Unrivaled is not at all what Angel Reese would have expected. The WNBA star joined the 3×3 basketball league with big hopes but her start has been disappointing and fans are lately questioning her decision.

Reese’s numbers in Unrivaled are strong—22 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 assists over two games. However, her team, Rose BC, is still looking for its first win, sitting at 0-2. In their latest game against Lunar Owls BC, Reese scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, and added one assist, but Rose BC still lost 79-70.

Reese rose to fame at LSU where she won a national title and shined as a college star. Her rookie WNBA season with the Chicago Sky showed individual brilliance but unfortunately, the team missed the playoffs. After a wrist injury ended her season early, Reese decided to try Unrivaled during the WNBA offseason.

While fans are looking forward to seeing Reese win games in the Unrivaled, Carter is making her mark in the WCBA. Will we get to see both of them in the Unrivaled in the coming years?
