Can two WNBA stars from opposite teams be friends? The history of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese demonstrates that this is not possible. The duo has been on two ends since their NCAA careers. However, a recent image from the WNBA game is a testament that anything is possible. The picture was from a moment between the Chicago Sky and the Las Vegas Aces when they played at the Wintrust Arena on Thursday. And it was shared on social media by a three-million-dollar net-worth singer.

The much-anticipated match got a lot of heads turning especially so because it was between Reese and A’ja Wilson who have been compared in the WNBA. Wilson had won the Rookie of the Year award in her first season (2018), something that Reese is eyeing this year. But a snap from the match despite the tough neck-to-neck competition turned all heads.

Kehlani shared the picture of Wilson and Reese bonding in their recent game on her Instagram stories that took place on Thursday. Reese could be seen donning a black-legged sleeve whereas Wilson is wearing a white-legged sleeve. The two were giving each other a high five. A carousel post on the same was shared by the WNBA in collaboration with the Las Vegas Aces official handle. Kehlani on Friday shared the image with love emojis that showed how happy she was to see the two stars blend with each other.

Although, this behavior is quite opposite to how Reese behaves with Clark. Reese has been pitted against Clark since her NCAA days when she did John Cena’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ move during the NCAA 2022-23 Finale and ultimately won the game. This erupted into a controversy with a lot of stars siding with Reese whereas others favored Clark. But when speaking with Reese’s attitude to Wilson, she has shared a mentee bond with her.

Reese had previously stated that she regards Wilson as a leader and has taken inspiration from her that led her to wear the one-legged sleeve. Reese at the time had also divulged that she had a rod inserted in her left leg that left some scars and therefore she uses the flamboyant one-legged sleeve.

She also took her idols’ names that time – Wilson and Te’a Cooper and didn’t shy away from saying it had some “swag.” And now that Reese is performing exceptionally well in the WNBA maybe she will follow Wilson’s path and be MVP someday.

This example just proves that while there is a lot of competition and rivalry, there is also sisterhood in the cash-rich league. And our collective responsibility is to talk about those friendships much like how we speak of the clashes.
