No matter which team wins the WNBA Finals trophy this year, history is going to be made in the next week. It will either be the first seed New York Liberty, looking for their first title win since the team was formed in 1997. Or it will be the Minnesota Lynx, which began its inaugural season in 1999 and now might become the first team in W history to win five championships. Game 1 has already seen Minnesota defeat New York at Barclays Center. With the excitement on the floor, another thing that thrills the viewers at home is the commentary. So, who will be behind the microphone now for an electric Game 2?
The WNBA Finals Presented by YouTube TV will be covered by ESPN for the 28th consecutive season. The main crew consists of three big names who will cover the Oct. 13 game from 3 pm ET. These are none other than the trio we all have begun to love for their energetic calls. These include Ryan Ruocco, a veteran play-by-play commentator; Rebecca Lobo, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer; and sports telecaster Holly Rowe. The game will also air on ABC Network.
Additionally, the WNBA Countdown at 2:30 pm ET, presented by Google on ABC, will be hosted by the lady trio of sports anchor Elle Duncan, analyst Andraya Carter, and former W player Chiney Ogwumike. After the game ends, the 5 pm ET slot is taken up by digital host/personality and play-by-play broadcaster Sam Ravech and Maria Marino for The Wrap-Up.

Some of these names have been associated with igniting some controversy this year, mostly for supporting Caitlin Clark. But the Indiana Fever are out of the equation now and it’s time for the Lynx and Liberty to shine. But after losing a home game, New York needs to pull up at the next crucial step on Sunday, but mostly they need Breanna Stewart.

Will Breanna Stewart let NY fall to MN for yet another time in the WNBA Finals?
The New York Liberty began the game strong, giving the Lynx a run for their money. However, what started as a rainstorm of threes, soon blew down to pitter-patter of the same. Still, the Liberty did not allow the visitors to get ahead of them throughout the game until it really mattered. When the Lynx took their very first lead at 84-83, Breanna Stewart had a chance to even it out against the Lynx at two crucial moments, but her baskets didn’t land.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Breanna Stewart shake off the pressure and lead the Liberty to their first-ever championship?

The game went into overtime, Stewie had two free throws, and yet the final score read 95-93 in Minnesota’s favor. “I want to be taking these shots,” Stewart said. “I feel like knowing my teammates and that everyone has confidence in me is important. It’s kind of like going on to the next and still making sure I’m aggressive any time on the court. Obviously, as a player, it’s very frustrating. But bounce back for Game 2.”

Last year’s Finals loss to the Las Vegas Aces was traumatizing enough. But the New York team says they’ve healed from the PTSD and did indeed defeat the Aces in the semifinals this year. But yesterday’s “bizarre” loss, as Courtney Vandersloot called it, still occurred. Her message to her teammates afterward was to not dwell on this loss but move on, because it was only the first game.
The postseason is a different ballgame, and the WNBA Finals is something else entirely. New York is capable of pulling a win if they get over the nervousness. Remember Sabrina Ionescu throwing up in a trashcan last year? While Breanna Stewart has not done anything similar yet, she will need to bring her A-game on Sunday if she’s going to help the Liberty win their first championship!
