As the WNBA season progresses, the WNBA stars will battle it out against each other in one of the most awaited All-Star games. This year due to the Paris Olympics, the Olympics basketball team will compete against the WNBA All-Star. The voting for WNBA All-Star started on June 13 and will run till June 29.

The team that will be announced on July 2 and will check the Olympic team preparations on July 20. As of June 21, the top 10 athletes as per NBC Los Angeles are as follows:-

A’ja Wilson

Wilson is the frontrunner in this race with 217,773 votes, as per NBC Los Angeles. She surely has been in top form this season scoring 27.8 points per game with 11.6 rebounds per match. Looks like Wilson is keen on being the MVP this year something she couldn’t be last season and has shown her dislike for this fact. Wilson is therefore a crowd favorite this season and if she continues to perform at the highest level, then there is no denying that she might win this race.

Caitlin Clark

The NCAA Queen on being drafted in the WNBA didn’t have the impact her fans were waiting for. Nonetheless, she has performed decently well with 16.3 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per match, and 6.6 assists per contest. She currently is placed on the second spot in the All-Star voting list with 216,427 votes. It will be interesting to see if she can trump Wilson in this race in the final results.

Aliyah Boston

Boston was the number one pick in the 2023 season and is third on the WNBA voting list with 171,864 votes. She currently has 13 points per game with 7.9 rebounds per match. Therefore, it is exciting for the fans to see her join Clark in the race just like she has been teaming with her during the Indiana Fever games. 

Breanna Stewart

Another top name that joins the list is that of Stewart. She has 19.7 points per game with 8.6 rebounds per match and 4 assists per contest. Hence, Stewart has played exceptionally well. Plus, she is last year’s runner-up. She currently has 151,984 votes. Therefore, it will be quite a pleasure for fans to watch their favorite stars battling it out against each other.

Arike Ogunbowale

The next name in the coveted list is that of Arike Ogunbowale. Ogunbowale has scored 23.9 points per game with 4.7 rebounds per match and 4.8 assists per contest. She currently stands at fifth place in the WNBA voting list with 130,838 votes. Hopefully, for her in the upcoming games, she will be able to outperform her opponents and might move a place or two up the ladder.

Sabrina Ionescu

Ionescu occupies the sixth place on the voting list. Ionescu has garnered 118,949 votes thanks to her brilliant performances of 19.3 points per game with 4.3 rebounds per match and 6.7 assists per contest. If she gets going in her upcoming games, she will surely climb a spot or two and occupy a better place.

Angel Reese

No mention of the WNBA list can be complete without taking into account Reese’s performances. Reese is one of the top contenders for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. She has left behind the most popular WNBA rookie Clark and now with the WNBA All-Stars game might also prove her brilliance against the US Basketball Olympics team. Reese at the time of this list had 118,490 votes.

Kelsey Plum

Another Aces player to keep an eye on in the list is Kelsey Plum. Plum has starred in many games and has always had a lot of limelight in her play. As of now she has 117,217 votes and is one of the major players for Las Vegas. She has 18.1 points per game with 4.9 assists per contest. Hence, it will be interesting to watch Plum participate in one of the most anticipated games.

Napheesa Collier

Collier is another player that averages double-doubles and hence justifies her selection in the WNBA All-Star list. She has scored 20.9 points per game with 10.4 rebounds per match. On top of that, she has also assumed a prominent role in terms of assisting with 3.5 assists per outing. As of now, she has 103,550 votes and who knows how far she will land up if she continues working on her game.

Dearica Hamby

Hamby since her joining with the Los Angeles Sparks has assumed a mainstay role and also started guiding rookie players. Therefore, it was obvious that she was in the eyes of the audience. She has in this season scored 17.8 points per game with 10.5 rebounds per match. Currently has 97,094 which when compared to the top stars is a little less but nonetheless, she might make it to the All-Star team.

Out of the top 10, Wilson, Stewart, Collier, Ionescu, and Plum are on the Olympics team and therefore will play the game from the Olympics side on July 20. The renaming All-Star team will be chosen by the coaches who can’t vote for their team’s players. The pool will include the other top 36 vote-getters. Therefore, anyone who hasn’t made it to the team yet can still have a chance. Plus, the coach’s opinion will matter the most when choosing this pool.
