With a $61B valuation, is the WNBA finally getting the respect it deserves?

“Bring it to Indiana.” Seems like all wishes from the Fever rookie Caitlin Clark are coming true this year. They won the All-Star Game vs Team USA. But the excitement in Phoenix made the first-overall pick wish something that has never been done before. Next year, Indiana will be hosting the WNBA All-Star Weekend for the very first time. While the people and the players are all ready to set the event ablaze, there may be one big issue.

According to an X account, “JW Marriott Indianapolis is fully booked with no available rooms for the 2nd week of July 2025.” Interestingly, everyone has seen Caitlin Clark sell out arenas wherever she goes. However, who knew she could make the hotel rooms get booked a year before they welcome the basketball world to the Midwest?

A recent post by the Indiana Fever has also made it quite clear how they are in the middle of the booming surge that the WNBA is experiencing. So far, they are the most-watched team. Whether you talk about television viewership or in-person games, they have +264.6% total game attendance. Indiana also has 10 broadcast viewership records and will have 38 of their 40 games on TV.

Surely, they can bring the crowd to their backyards. But what do we know about the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend so far?

Everyone knows how excited Caitlin Clark was to attend her first-ever WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. She did not even participate in Skills Challenge or the three-point shooting contest just to breathe in the thrill. However, time in the desert is over and now the event will move to the Midwest. Talking about the same, Mayor Joe Hogsett announced earlier, “I have said it once, and I will say it again, no one knows how to host the biggest events in sports like Indianapolis – the WNBA All-Star Game will be no exception.”

Cathy Engelbert is also on board for all the support that this city has to give to the basketball community. She, who back in February attended the NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, said, ” I have been so impressed with the branding of the city, the support of the city … I know that in the state, in the city, basketball is so popular. I mean, it’s pretty incredible.” She has no doubt that the 2025 event will be quite exciting.

The WNBA All-Star game is logged for Indianapolis will be on July 19, 2025. While even the Fever does not know when the tickets will go on sale for the challenge events, they are sure when the tickets come out, they will have another sold-out in their hands.
