Sabrina Ionescu’s court presence has always fascinated her fandom. But in a recent change of events, the basketball star herself hit the court as a fangirl. Following the 2023 WNBA championship, Ionescu was seen several times cheering for her fiance Hroniss Grasu in his matches. Seeing this adorable relationship several fans were left in awe, and many wanted to know more about this NFL superstar. 

Before her fangirl avatar, the year 2023 proved to be a blessing for Ionescu. She launched her shoes with Nike, won the WNBA 3-point contest and now starting a new chapter of her life with her better half. 

Who’s Sabrina Ionescus’ fiance?

Just like his fiance, Grasu is also a renowned star in the world of sports. Born in 1991, Grasu showed early signs of his interest in football. To take his game to the next level, he joined the University of Oregon, to play as a center for the Ducks.

During his college career, he was named as an All-American. In 2015, Grasu was the 71st pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Over the years, Grasu signed with several teams before he was signed to the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad in 2021. 

Aside from having a sports background, the couple also share the same heritage, as both of their parents emigrated to the U.S. from Romania. Sabrina Ionescu recently shared a post on her Instagram, in which she was seen cheering for her spouse-to-be during his match. She captioned the post with, “Fangirling hard for #65.” Spell Bounded by post several fans took to her comment section to show their love for the young couple. 

Although the couple is very private about their relationship, both of them were seen several times in each other’s matches as cheerleaders. They met during their college days, as they both were playing for the Ducks. Not only did they play for the same team, they both majored in general social sciences. They made their relationship public in 2021, when Sabrina Ionescu shared several pics with Grasu on Instagram, captioned with “Happy Birthday to my person! Always smiling with you.” Fast forwarding to 2023, in January, Grasu proposed Ionescu in a surprise way.

Left in awe by this gesture even Vanessa Bryant was cheering for the couple as she congratulated them for their engagement. However, the couple is yet to decide their wedding date. 

When are they getting married?

Being one of the top players, Sabrina Ionescu in a recent interview with Nets Republic, admitted that planning a wedding is coming off as a challenge for the couple as they both have a pretty packed schedule.

She said, “Yeah, you know, that’s not the easiest thing to sort out. You know, being engaged but soon to be married to an athlete. It’s always something that you have to tackle but I think we have between January and the start of our training camp in April. So hopefully, around that time next year, we’ll be able to come up with a date when we’re both not playing and do it.” 

On being asked where they plan to get married, she further revealed that they plan to marry somewhere far away so they can also use it as a vacation since getting married in Oregon can turn into a very big wedding with a lot of people showing up.
