Diana Taurasi and Kelsey Plum have faced the brunt of Caitlin Clark loyalists on more than one occasion. The Mercury GOAT has even tried to explain her words, only to get thrashed again. However, seems like inside her rough edges, she does have a core that speaks the facts. One, that the Aces star has personally experienced during her transition from college basketball to the professional league.

Talking to Sean Schultz of WNBA Swish, Kelsey Plum unveils how the 5x Olympics gold medalist helped her during her rookie days. Comparing herself as a rookie to Iowa’s Kate Martin, she said, “I think sometimes you need to hear from someone that’s been through it that you’re doing the right thing. I remember when I was in the league at the beginning, Diana and Sue, definitely were just like ‘Plummy, you’re doing good. It’s okay. It’s gonna happen.'”

Continuing on her experience with the two greatest women basketball players to grace the floor, Plum added, “It matters to hear that from people. I’m not doing anything special, just reminding Kate of who she is.” The second iteration of Kelsey Plum’s DAWG class with Under Armour featured Caitlin Clark’s former teammate Kate Martin. In the camp, the rookies and the best of the college players understand the transition from college to the WNBA. Now that Martin is a part of Aces too, the 2x WNBA All-Star is doing her best to guide the rookie.

Jogging your memory to just a few weeks back when Caitlin Clark had not even landed in the WNBA, the 10x WNBA All-Star had given her a rather harsh message. The first time, Diana Taurasi had mentioned how the reality was coming. And that the No. 22 may look like a superhuman when playing against 18-year-old college basketball athletes. But in the WNBA, grown women play. Ones who have years of experience. However, she did also mention that her talent will translate in some or the other way in the WNBA no matter what. After this, Caitlin Clark’s SNL cameo and snub on Taurasi blew the fans away.

Recently, she again popped up in the hot topics for calling today’s fans “sensitive.” She had also mentioned that she did not say anything factually incorrect. She clarified further, “It’s like when you go from kindergarten to first grade, there’s a learning adjustment. Then you go from high school to college and there is a learning adjustment. I don’t think I said anything that wasn’t factually correct. Like anything, greatness is gonna translate and she has proven that in every level and I don’t see that being any different in the WNBA.”

Seems like Diana Taurasi had nothing but some truth bombs to throw at Caitlin Clark, which the fans took offensively. In fact, she has only talked about how the Fever’s rookie will go through a learning curve, something that everyone, including herself, has gone through. Nevertheless, it is delightful to see how Kelsey Plum is helping her rookie teammate go through this level of the league.
