Week three of the Unrivaled 3×3 women’s basketball league has delivered its share of drama. In a game between Phantom BC and Rose BC, both teams started the day at 1-3, and the former pulled off a 75-63 victory. But the real story wasn’t the final score; it was caught on TNT’s mic.
In the midst of a timeout, while Rose BC head coach Nola Henry was mic’d up, Angel Reese’s subtle dig echoed through the arena. She was clearly heard saying, “Sabrina can’t f—-ing guard!” Ironically, on the very next play, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu managed a spectacular block on Reese, leaving fans both amused and perplexed.
The Phantom BC would end the evening with a second win as Ionescu led the scoring, while Sataou Sabally landed the game-winning 3-pointer for 75-63. Though Rose took an early lead with Chelsea Gray raking up 7 points in the first quarter, Ionescu & Co., took over 42-36 by the first half and never looked back. It was the 2024 champion’s first game back after her trip to Paris for the NBA games, but she played like she never left, better even.

“I was trying to get open, and get great looks,” Ionescu said after the game that sent Rose BC 1-4, taking up the 5th spot in the standings.
It was Angel Reese & Co.’s second consecutive loss and the fans weren’t having it with the comment. One hot mic moment transformed an ordinary timeout into a legendary talking point.

Needless to say the video soon made its way into social media and has ever since been a troll fest for fans. An X user posted the video on the platform with the words “We all heard Angel Reese during that timeout right hahaha“

What’s your perspective on:
Is Angel Reese's trash talk justified, or did Sabrina Ionescu prove her wrong with that block?
Have an interesting take?
As the arena buzzed with anticipation, an observer quipped, “I wish she woulda turned to the right, looked kah dead in her eyes and told her the same thing…” This comment set off a chain reaction, as fans compared the unscripted moment to a buzzer-beater that shifts momentum in an instant.
While team statistics from the game provided context—Rose BC shot a modest 42.9% from the field compared to Phantom BC’s 56.9%, and their three-point percentages were 18.8% versus 63.2%—it was the hot mic moment that truly stole the spotlight.
Another fan added, “You don’t gotta have a defensive bag with an offensive bag like that lol.”

In a display that turned criticism into a triumph, Ionescu not only recorded a key defensive block on Reese but also finished with a stellar performance. She was 7 for 10 from beyond the arc—an impressive 70% three-point shooting rate— while adding 2 blocks, 8 assists, and 9 rebounds.
This was not lost on the fans as, one of them humorously asked, “Who on that sorry team was guarding Sab, though? Should we check the scoreboard?”
Well, Ionescu for her part justified these points by scoring 32 points while shooting 61% from the field (11-18) in just 19 minutes of play.

This also led to comparisons between the two as the social media chatter didn’t stop there. One fan wasn’t shy: “And Reese can’t make f-ckn lay-ups and f-ckn lost again lmao.” Reese, who only played 11 minutes in the game, posted 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks, with an efficient 62% from the field (5-8). The juxtaposition between Ionescu’s explosive 32-point performance and Reese’s more limited impact added layers to the narrative.
