Have you ever gone out to watch a live sports game? Well, if you have, then you might be able to relate to meeting all sorts of people in the stadium/arena. You have the over-enthusiastic fans who will cover themselves in body paint, the hecklers who will passionately participate in booing the rival team, or just a normal city fan who will come into the game while donning the jersey of their favorite player/team. However, it was hard to figure out which category one individual belonged to as he/she unexpectedly became the victim of a Lisa Leslie moment.
The former Los Angeles Sparks star has been working with Turner Sports to analyze Unrivaled games during its inaugural season. On the side, she also has been reportedly helping players like Angel Reese, Satou Sabally, and Napheesa Collier practice. The league recently hosted its Semi-Finals just 2 months after the inaugural season began. Leslie called out one of the games alongside fellow analyst Sarah Kustok and play-by-play analyst Brendan Glasheen. Given this star cast, you would have expected the trio to be the off-court highlight, right? Well actually, the highlight was not them, but a person who had occupied one of the seats behind the commentators’ table. What made the person stand out was the fact that he/she was wearing a pair of sunglasses inside the stadium, along with a shawl that covered his/her head, shoulders, and front partially.
It’s not every day that such bizarre moments occur in the world of basketball. Therefore, it didn’t take long for social media users to highlight their new obsession with the stranger.

Basketball Community shared opinions on the person behind Lisa Leslie covering their identity: “let her mind her business”
When looking at the viral picture, there is one opinion that stands out more than the others. One social media user highlighted the same for everyone by writing, “That lady called in sick to work please let her mind her business”. Ah yes. The classic ‘Caught at a game after calling in sick at work’ excuse. The sports world is filled with instances of fans getting ‘caught in the act’. Back in 2021, a TikTok video gained around 1 million views. The same featured an individual highlighting how a boss contacted an employee upon seeing her on camera at a Golden State Warriors basketball game after she called out of work sick! Yikes! Well, this person may not have wanted to become the next one to get in trouble. Hence, the sunglasses and the shawl make sense.
One individual wrote, “It’s like she was supposed to be at work or something and just so happened to have the unluckiest seats in the place!”. When booking courtside seats, it isn’t always made aware that the commentators’ table might be right in your area. Therefore, getting tickets for a good seat at an Unrivaled game certainly did not go this individual’s way. That is, if he/she really called in sick.

One social media user took her thinking to another level entirely. She commented, “It’s Bruno Mars”, which also earned her a “Lol” reply from the person who originally posted the picture. Well, with the glasses and the apparent curly hair, it is easy to make the connection. Furthermore, the renowned singer is a basketball enthusiast. However, he has no reason to hide his appearance when inviting a basketball game. That is, unless he did not want to engage with any fans while exiting. Plus, there is nothing to indicate that Mars is currently in Miami, where the semifinals are being held.
One individual wrote, “(laughing emojis) fact, but off topic Lisa face card is lethal”. Well, good to know that not all of the attention was diverted from the WNBA legend.

What’s your perspective on:
Did this mystery fan really call in sick, or is it just a clever disguise gone wrong?
Have an interesting take?
One social media user wrote, “(laughing emoji) Maybe trade seats with somebody if you don’t wanna be seen, because she drew way more attention doing all this”. Of course, if the person had not dressed up as if he/she was trying to get through an unexpected sandstorm in a touristy place, he/she may not have been on anyone’s radar. Now, she might go viral enough that his/her alleged boss catches the picture and puts two and two together.

Overall, the majority of social media users were united. United in believing that the person had simply taken a sick leave to do anything else but rest. Let this be a lesson to all the readers out there. Don’t lie about the reason why you’re taking time off from work. Especially if you are planning to visit a place with cameras, whose footage is being watched by thousands of people live.
