Despite upsetting the 2x defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, the LA Sparks’ horrid time has continued. The Sparks have now lost 2 consecutive games on their home court. Still, as is the case with teams in the City of Angels, there is no shortage of support extended to them, which includes some high-profile names. The Sparks’ 2nd overall pick, Cameron Brink, who is out for the season due to an injury, wasn’t the only popular face amidst the 9,533 in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena as Alpine Ski legend, Lyndsey Vonn also joined in on the fun.

At the start of the fourth quarter, one of the WNBA broadcasting partners interacted with Vonn. The 39-year-old first revealed that she loves supporting other women and these athletes are doing a great job at that. Giving her take on the recent popularity surge in the WNBA, Vonn said, “I think it’s always been there. It’s just that people are now watching it. So, I don’t think anyone’s changed what they are doing.”

Then, she decided to bring to the discussion three of the biggest rookie names in the league at the moment. According to her, the star power of Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, and Angel Reese is one of the reasons for bringing more eyeballs to the sport. Vonn added, “There are a couple of amazing stars like Caitlin Clark and Cameron (Brink) and Angel (Reese), obviously. They are really bringing a lot of attention. But, this sport is amazing. I love it.”

There is hardly anyone who is not aware of the Caitlin Clark effect. Her hype has already resulted in a 462% rise in ESPN’s ratings. At the same time, the league record 13 consecutive double-doubles by Chicago’s fierce No.5 Angel Reese have also been a major reason for people to tune in. As for Brink, she may be out of action due to her unfortunate ACL tear, but the Crypto.com Arena has witnessed several sell-outs this time around.

And this popularity surge has ensured that fans turn up even when their favorite stars aren’t playing. On Tuesday night, Cameron Brink and Lyndsey Vonn were accompanied by another special basketball talent from California.

JuJu Watkins joins Cameron Brink and others in the stands
