The recent physicality against Caitlin Clark has got everyone divided. But whether you are in favor or oppose Chennedy Carter, there is no denying that Clark’s opponents are taking advantage of her weakness and Clark’s nightmare is coming true. She had previously complained of increased physicality at the highest level and looked like she was right.
With Clark being shoved, ex-NBA star Chandler Parsons brought forth a valid point. He took to the social media networking site X and questioned Clark’s teammates’ positioning on the court during the whole incident. This has brought forth the issue that her squad does not seem as active about Clark’s well-being as her fans. And hence, here are 3 forgotten WNBA stars that the Fever can sign to protect as well as improve their connectivity with Clark.
Liz Cambage

The ex-WNBA star Liz Cambage last played in the cash-rich league during the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Sparks. Playing her trade in 25 games, Cambage basketed a decent 13 points per match with 6.4 rebounds per game. Therefore, she proved herself both offensively and defensively but her destiny had other plans.
As per Just Women Sports, Cambage quit the WNBA because of a “toxic” environment. At that time, she had decided to step away “for the time being.” But it became Cambage’s last contact with the WNBA as she didn’t come back. Following Clark’s humiliation at the hands of Carter is the perfect moment for the 32-year-old to get back in the league.
Especially now that the Fever requires a player to support Clark’s style of play, Cambage would be an ideal choice since she has a tall, sturdy frame that opponents find difficult to wrestle against.
Kristine Anigwe
Anigwe’s name always pops up whenever we remember players who had a good draft number but then faded with time. The London-born was selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2019 draft by the Connecticut Sun. She then played a few games with the Dallas Wings, Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, and Phoenix Mercury, never getting the opportunity to show her complete mettle.
This moment therefore would serve her right. She last played for the Chicago Sky in August 2023 signing multiple 7-day contracts. If Anigwe gets selected by the Fever, she will decimate her opponents and become the second fiddle to Clark.
Considering she has always taken on a supportive role, her pairing with Clark would bring a lot of glory to the Fever. Maybe she can be an imminent part of their resurgence plans.
Brittney Griner
One special name that comes to mind is Brittney Griner. Griner has already proved her loyalty to the Phoenix Mercury by being with them since she was drafted in 2013. Despite having competent players, Mercury finished in last place during the 2023 season. Hence, this is a good opportunity for Griner to be a part of another squad like the Fever that is trying to make a comeback.

Though she currently has a contract of $150,000 with the Mercury, it isn’t enough considering it’s almost double that of rookie Clark even though Griner has 10 years of experience. Her latest statements speaking highly of the WNBA rookies are another reason she could fit well with Clark. Hopefully, she receives an offer from the Fever since fans are keen to watch her in red and white.
While the balling world waits for the comeback of these three stars, the Fever seems to have a home for them. However, the next steps will only be known with time. What do you think? Which player should be paired with Clark? Let us know in the comments below.
