Back-to-back champions, the Las Vegas Aces haven’t had the best start to the season. They are just 6-5 so far as they finally managed to break their 3-game losing streak last night in Phoenix. While head coach Becky Hammon has been quite critical of the team’s defense, seems like the mood in the locker room is still great. That’s what you’d expect from champions. They aren’t letting the noise affect their camaraderie, as was showcased during one of their scrimmages. Despite having arguably her best season so far, 2x MVP A’ja Wilson lost to one of her teammates, clearly delighting the whole roster.

The reigning Finals MVP shared an Instagram story, accusing her teammates of hating her. She captioned her story, “THIS TEAM IS FULL OF HATERS!!! PURE HATERS.” She also added laughing crying emojis, showing exactly what she was doing in the video. The official Instagram account of the Las Vegas Aces posted a reel from their practice session. In the video, Wilson takes a deep logo-3 shot. After making the bucket, she runs away happily, saying, “Period. They doubted me…” Before the reigning MVP could complete her sentence, another logo shot went in.

Surprising to her, she turned around to see the team celebrating Megan Gustafson for the shot. Consequently, the two got back at it, only for Wilson’s shot to miss while Gustafson made another bucket to take the win. In the end, all the 27-year-old hooper could say was, “You can see they prayin for my downfall but it’s okay.” She also added, “Who cares about halfcourt shots, anyway?”

While Becky Hammon recently had to think of the team’s trust after three consecutive losses, their chemistry here is no short of epic. A’ja Wilson and co. seem to be doing fine in the practices. But how are they doing in the season?

A’ja Wilson shoots her team out of a losing streak

Last night, the visiting Aces brought home a victory in the Footprint Center, Phoenix. Winning the game 103-99, Las Vegas got the better of the Mercury. Teams like the Minnesota Lynx, LA Sparks, and Seattle Storm have upset the reigning champions already this season. There is no news in the fact that Becky Hammon too is concerned about the team’s poor defense.

Nevertheless, A’ja Wilson is having an incredible run, giving the team a much-needed boost. In fact, in their win over Diana Taurasi’s team, Wilson had 32 points. But as long as their defense is not good, their offense can’t really do a lot. Something that the team itself had mentioned before.
