10 Months After Following Stephen Curry’s Leadership, WNBA’s Kelsey Plum Heaps Praise on Her ‘Wise Decision’

Kelsey Plum is one of the biggest names in the WNBA right now. Drafted in 2017 by the San Antonio Stars, she soon rose to fame with her unparalleled talent, leading her team to a WNBA championship with the Las Vegas Aces. Being one of the best basketball players, she followed in Stephen Curry‘s footsteps last year by signing a contract with a brand he holds close.

Recently, 1o months after her ‘wise decision’, Kelsey Plum couldn’t help but shower the company with high praise.

In November 2022, WNBA superstar Kelsey Plum inked a ground-breaking apparel contract with Under Armour. Kelsey Plum has rapidly risen to fame within Under Armour’s basketball division since partnering with the company. She now shares the stage with legendary players like Aliyah Boston and Stephen Curry.

Curry inked a deal with the sportswear apparel brand back in 2013. While his initial contract with the company began with a modest $4 million per year arrangement in 2013, today, it stands at a staggering $215 million. It also includes an equity stake in the company.

After signing a deal with Under Armour 10 months earlier, Kelsey Plum recently praised the company. She appeared on an episode of the podcast All The Smoke where she discussed her deal with Under Armour.

Plum revealed, “Oh man, it’s so cool. It’s so cool. To be with a brand too that cares and is invested in, like really puts their money where their mouth is. I think that to me speaks volumes.”

She continued, “I mean today …we were coming from an access camp with young kids in Las Vegas. And we got to do a camp and then take them shopping, oh. The kids were hyped you know and it’s just cool because it’s like but that’s what matters, that’s impact.”

Kelsey Plum prioritizes giving back to her community, even foregoing her own signature line. She told Forbes that while a signature shoe or line “would be something that would be really cool,” her priority lies in inspiring others, that too while winning.

The Kelsey Plum Dawg Class, a mentorship clinic created to help the best women’s college guards bridge the gap between collegiate and professional basketball, is one notable result of this partnership. This program grew out of Plum’s own experiences, in which she saw a need for more resources and guidance as she made the move to the WNBA.
