A’ja Wilson is leaving everyone in the dust in the MVP race. The Las Vegas Aces’ Wednesday night clash against the formidable Seattle Storm proved to be another historic occasion for the 2x champion. Wilson delivered her first career 20-20 game, which comprised 24 points and 20 rebounds. However, the experience wasn’t all that pleasant for the 27-year-old throughout the game. For yet another night, Wilson had to execute her skills in a bleeding state.
Perhaps a bleeding nose is a blessing in disguise for the 2× WNBA Defensive Player of the Year. The last time it transpired on the court, A’ja Wilson ended up being the first player to register at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals in a WNBA game. The occurrence of another such incident resulted in her pulling off a career-best offensive and defensive display. Anyhow, she spared a thought or two on the bloody affair soon after the game.
“I think it knocked some sense into me. I think I’m better now. I feel like I was great. I never seen that much blood coming out of my nose. I’ve had more nose bleeds this year than I’ve ever had in my entire life,” Wilson told reporters. The painful turn of events for the 6 ft 4 in forward happened in the third quarter last night.

An accidental blow by the Storm’s No.3 Nneka Ogwumike compelled her to be absent from the court for a few possessions. Apart from being a tough competitor, Wilson is also a great sportsman. She provided proof of that when she commended the efforts of her opponents of the night. Wilson termed them a “Super Team” while agreeing with Hammon’s views of how the unit is super talented.
In the meantime, there was another memorable feat that A’ja Wilson reflected on in addition to scoring the 21st (2nd for the franchise after Natalie Williams) 20-20 game in WNBA history.
A’ja Wilson gets some “cover” recognition
The 2× WNBA champion added another feather to the cap when it was announced that she would be the female athlete to feature on the WNBA cover of the NBA 2K25 video game. She will be alongside the Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who is the NBA cover athlete.
Her reaction soon after she found out was, “It was a big moment. I mean, you see yourself, you dream of, like, Jason Tatum was saying, like, as a kid, you just dream yourself seeing your face in these spaces.”
