Ayo Edebiri’s recent stage act simply fluttered Sue Bird’s heart. After winning the Golden Globe award, Bird was quick to respond to the actor’s acceptance speech. The WNBA legend’s reaction must have drawn her followers to watching Edebiri’s special moment.
As per Variety Magazine’s official site, Edebiri bagged her first Golden Globe award for ‘best actress in a TV comedy’ for her exemplary performance in ‘The Bear’.

An elated Bird shared the Golden Globe acceptance speech of Ayo Edebiri on her Instagram story. She decided to use the index finger and thumb crossed heart emoji sending waves of appreciation towards Edebiri on Monday. Edebiri was seen gasping for breath as she had a long list of people to thank for helping her win one of the most prolific awards in the television industry. Her speech was also appreciated by the netizens for thanking “agents and managers’ assistants.”
“I’m an artist and I’m very lucky to be an artist and I know we all feel that way, so I just really want to acknowledge that. I’m so grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press and to my family, my family, my family. Everybody at ‘The Bear,’ that’s my family, I love you guys so much. It’s an honor to work with you and grow alongside you,” Ediberi expressed her happiness. “There’s so many people who I forgot to thank. Oh my god, all of my agents and managers’ assistants, the people who answer my emails. Y’all are real ones. Thank you for answering my crazy, crazy emails.”
As per IMDB, Edebiri has played the role of a young pass-out named ‘Sydney Adamu’ from the ‘Culinary Institute of America’ who joins the Carmy’s restaurant. The Carmy restaurant is run by the main character Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto who inherited the place after his older brother’s suicide. Berzatto runs the place after coming back to his hometown of Chicago post leaving his job in a Michelin star restaurant. Edibiri looks up to the lead character and the restaurant since it is her favorite place to eat.

For her role, Edibiri won the Golden Globe award and was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award. Apart from Edibiri, the other lead characters include Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. While White plays the role of Carmy, Moss-Bachrach dons the hat of Richard “Richie” Jerimovich in this comedy-drama. Notably, White also won his second Golden Globe Award for best actor in a television series musical or comedy. Meanwhile, Bird too has some television connections.
How’s Bird connected to TV?
Bird is not only a viewer but also a television host and this was evident when she along with WNBA star Diana Taurasi hosted the “The Bird & Taurasi Show” as an alt-cast NBA show on Christmas Day. They were present during a game between the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks. Other than that another television personality namely Jason Sudeikis of the ‘Ted Lasso’ fame had joined them. Who knows that Bird could also someday feature alongside her favorite artists given the popularity of her show.
