From incredible food and wine to breathtaking architecture, Paris has everything to offer to whoever visits the city of light. It leaves a lasting impression of its pleasant vibe and culture. Similarly, WNBA legend Sue Bird and her partner Megan Rapinoe are feeling the impact of the time they spent in Paris during the Summer Olympics. The couple could often be seen taking in the festivities at the Games. Although there was a lot to feast on and enjoy, there were a couple of things that majorly bothered Bird while she navigated through the city.

Spilling the beans in her renewed A Touch More podcast, Bird said, “I have a couple of things about France. You constantly have to watch where you’re walking. The poles in that country, they’re everywhere, especially in a crowd, and they’re waist-high. It’s like your kneecaps. Forget it. The other thing is they really take their ticket checking and credential checking to another level. We got grief every single day at the basketball and we were there 18 times,” describing the two things that left her displeased in Paris.

Nonetheless, listing these things, Bird and Rapinoe also talked about the perks, courtesy of Sue Bird being the Global Ambassador for FIBA. “Sue is a FIBA Ambassador, so we had something like credentials and a certain car. You know, there is a certain credential that if you show it to anyone, they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, right this way, go right this way.'”

She later on asserted the same and gave FIBA a shoutout. “Luckily because I have a lot of FIBA access, which is great, shoutout to FIBA, they took care of me/us the entire trip in such a wonderful way,” the WNBA icon added.

It was the first time that Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe attended the Olympic Games after retiring from their respective sports and had a completely different experience, spectating everything from the sidelines. Unlike before, this time they were able to see it all and had the opportunity to pick and choose their own itinerary. As for Bird being an ambassador for FIBA, a whole lot is going on.
