In the first half of 2023, the WNBA viewership reached 548000 viewers in the US for ESPN’s live broadcast of 13 WNBA games. However, some people watch it from a different perspective despite likes of Chelsea Gray and A’ja Wilson bringing back-to-back championship glories and creating history.

Along with their die-hard fans, athletes also meet their critics from time to time. However, not all that criticism is constructive.

It’s like always when Clay Travis is seen delivering quite bold and outspoken statements. A resurfaced video of his radio show OutKick the Show with Clay Travis has been posted on X (formerly Twitter). In the video, Travis can be seen constantly ranting about how unproductive and liable a franchise the WNBA is.

The 7-minute-long video has been captioned, “A good, State champion caliber, high school boys team would smoke the best team in the WNBA,” which caught the attention of 3-time WNBA champ Chelsea Gray. She reposted the video with the caption, “Dumbass.”

In the video, Travis says, “I’ve said this for a long time, it is 100% true, a good state championship-caliber high school boys team would smoke the best team in the WNBA. Let me repeat that because it’s true and it’s important. A good state championship-level boys’ high school team would smoke the WNBA champions. Give me a team from California, New York, Texas, or Florida, and I would bet my entire savings in the bank that the boys’ high school team would beat the WNBA team.”

Earlier this year, Clay Travis commented on the SportsCenter when it posted a picture of Jonquel Jones, Sabrina Ionescu, and Breanna Stewart, and captioned it, “There’s a Big 3 in New York.” Travis being himself, jumped on the opportunity and commented on the post, “Just stop. The vast majority of sports fans can’t name any of these people. @espn’s descent into woke sports engineering continues.”
