While basketball has united Natasha Cloud and Sophie Cunningham, maybe it’s politics that can divide them. As fans gear up for the elections in November, both the stars are clear about the side they will take. In a recent Instagram story which she now deleted, Cunningham posted her pro-Trump stance that would have talked negatively about the other candidates. So when Cloud’s fans noticed it, they called out their star to give a check to her Phoenix Mercury teammate potentially a divide between them.

But as Natasha Cloud stood by her choice, she did not shy away from opining that “I’m absolutely going to keep tweeting FACTUAL information. And holding those around me accountable for posting dangerous misinformation. Yes.” This further advanced her role of supporting Kamala Harris for the elections, and hopefully won’t be met with disdain from her teammates.

While Cunningham has been a part of the Mercury since 2019, after she was drafted in the second round by the Phoenix-based team, Cloud joined the Mercury this season after being with the Washington Mystics till 2023. But once they became teammates, a lot of fans expected them to go against each other due to their political opinions. However, the two can seen supporting each other on the court, and even a viral clip from their pregame outfits displays that they are friends, as Cunningham even waited for Cloud to catch up with her after the former was being photographed by the paparazzi.

During one such appearance, Cloud had come to the fore to reveal the “backstory” behind their friendship. According to TCloud, “people have no idea about conversations we privately have but because they are fans they think they do.” However, this is not the first time that Cunningham has earned flak online for her political views.

Cunningham posted a snap a few months ago wearing a red hat on Instagram. This appalled a lot of fans who thought that she did it to support Trump and was the “Make America Great Again” hat. So when in a poll regarding the most disliked players and Cunningham didn’t make it to the top 3, her critics were furious and wanted to know the reason behind it.

However, the 26-year-old looked to be unbothered as she shared her snap captioned “Always on some B. S. 🌞👙✨.” In August, the 28-year-old further revealed that her mother helps her pick her outfits. Hence, maybe she would have helped while picking up the red cap, which had the text “Hot Cowgirl Summer,” not “MAGA” but couldn’t be seen since she posed sideways.

Hopefully, the two stars will never let the difference in political opinions become an issue. And maybe with this fans can also relax a bit and instead help the Mercury plan for the next season.
