JP Saxe, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist seems to have a special affinity for none other than soccer sensation Megan Rapinoe. While JP Saxe is most known to listeners for his smash hit song If The World Was Ending?with Julia Michaels, his musical influences show an intriguing turn in his artistic process. When asked about his musical influences, he revealed an unlikely name, Megan Rapinoe.

He told Unclear Magazine, “Megan Rapinoe. I am always inspired by Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, and Joni Mitchell.? Rapinoe seems to have permanently etched her artistic soul into JP Saxe’s creative spirit, joining the ranks of legendary musicians like Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell.

Recently, the Grammy-nominated fan had the opportunity to meet Rapinoe, and her to-be-wife, Sue Bird couldn’t be more ecstatic!

JP Saxe posted a series of pictures and videos on his Instagram handle, letting his fans know that he finally met Rapinoe. The slide included a video of Sue Bird, Rapinoe and JP Saxe sharing a group hug on the field. Saxe captioned the post, “humans and snacks and love and dreams.”

The trio looked like their happiest selves. Sue Bird put the love forward by sharing the post on her Instagram story. She wrote along with the post, “MRxJP(sandwich).” A dream come true for JP Saxe indeed!

Sue Bird came out as gay and publicly acknowledged her relationship with Megan Rapinoe in 2017, marking a pivotal event for LGBTQ+ visibility in the sports industry. They further celebrated their love when, in 2018, they were featured in ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue, becoming the first same-sex couple to do so. The couple took their love to the net level in October 2020 when Rapinoe bent the knee to Bird after dating for four years. Bird said yes!

While the pandemic has slowed down wedding planning, the couple seems fine with it. Bird told People, “I think the one thing we do agree on is that we would love to have our wedding once things have settled down in terms of COVID-19 because we want to have a stress-free environment where we are not having to worry about testing and this and that, which is kind of the life that we are living now.”
