Angel Reese awaits her NCAA arch-nemesis and now WNBA rival at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Caitlin Clark and the Fever are traveling to the Windy City for their third meeting with the Sky with an upper hand of two wins.

On top of this, Indiana is also on a satisfactory four-win streak. But will the exasperation of continued losses help Chicago win this home game? Here is all you can expect for today’s fiery matchup of the rookies.

The two young teams will go head-to-head once again. However, both will be missing essential members in this spicy matchup. For Indiana, Temi Fagbenle is still not at her best. She is nursing her left knee back to health, after getting injured during Indiana’s second matchup with the LA Sparks. While she was seen popping some shots during the shoot around in Chicago, she just might miss Sunday’s game. Officially, her return is set for June 27, 2024, against the Seattle Storm. If she does return, the overall spirits of the Fever members and their defense will get a much-needed lift.

At the same time, Damiris Dantas is also out for now. Her estimated return according to ESPN might be June 30, 2024, when Caitlin Clark will first go against the Phoenix GOAT Diana Taurasi. For now, Dantas is going through some VISA issues.

On the other hand, two key players from the Sky roster will probably be missing from Wintrust today. Elizabeth Williams, who last played in Chicago’s win over the Mystics, will undergo surgery for her meniscus and thus, has been ruled out for the games since the first week of June. Diamond DeShields is on a game-time decision basis. Although she can play, she just might sit out of this one unless required otherwise.

Predicting the starters and the chances of Angel Reese winning over Caitlin Clark

According to ESPN, the Chicago Sky has a 59.8% probability of winning over the visitors. Currently, they are mixing their lineup in the absence of Williams. Hence, Chennedy Carter will be taking the role of a starter. Along with her, the usual four will be taking the floor on Sunday. These include Angel Reese, Lindsay Allen, Kamilla Cardoso, and Marina Mabrey.

For Indiana, the chances may be low at 40.2% for the game. But they have time and again proven that these numbers don’t matter. On top of that, the team has just found its feet with a four-game winning streak. In their last game, four of their starters came out with double-digit scores, with Katie Lou Samuelson joining them from the bench for the same. Adding to their offense will be the golden rookie, Caitlin Clark. With Fagbenle out, Christie Sides just might not experiment with her starters. Hence, Kirsty Wallace, Kelsey Mitchell, NaLyssa Smith, and Aliyah Boston will be joining Caitlin Clark to open the game.

Looking at the fact that Angel Reese is on a double-double record and Marina Mabrey is also showing her best, the Sky have the potential to get the better of the Fever. Carter is also an underdog who is averaging in double figures, adding to the team’s offense. The advantage with Fever is that they have two players who like to play a fast-paced game which only Carter matches in Chicago. Nevertheless, the Fever will surely try to keep their playoff contention and a winning streak alive.
