On a 5-game losing streak at the moment, the Chicago Sky will be thanking the Aces for keeping their playoff chances alive. But, they would now want to take matters into their own hands to survive. However, the road ahead is not an easy one considering teams like Minnesota and Las Vegas itself waiting next in line. On top of that, things are bound to get more challenging for the Sky as they’ll probably enter these contests without their leading scorer Chennedy Carter.

For the third game in a row, the participation of Chicago’s No.7 hangs in the balance. According to trusted sources, an official clearance is still awaited after the news broke out that she’s displaying the symptoms of Covid 19. “We’re testing for COVID-19 and speaking with our doctors to hear what they would suggest progression-wise,” Sky’s general manager, Jeff Pagliocca said just before Sky could take Fever.

The Sky is set to lock horns against Minnesota next. Till now, an official statement of Carter’s playing state is yet to be released by the team management. However, as per the latest update, it’s been confirmed by the Chicago Sun-Times journalist Annie Costabile that Carter is out, owing to the health and safety protocols. Taking to X, Costabile wrote, “There is a possibility she could meet the team in Las Vegas. They play the Aces on Tuesday.” Even the possibility of her return for the Aces matchup had Teresa Weatherspoon saying, “It’s possible, but we’re not sure.”

Previously also, the Sachs Recreation Center witnessed some players taking precautions by wearing masks. An insight into that was provided by the head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, further confirmed by the Sun-Times reporter Annie Costabile.

In a post on X, she writes, “TW said masks are just to take care of each other and keep everybody as safe as possible.”

The absence of Chennedy Carter will obviously make their next fixture a challenging endeavor.

An 11-20 record in the season so far means that Chicago is one loss away from kissing their playoff chances goodbye. Standing in their way are this year’s Commissioner’s Cup Champions Minnesota. The Lynx are currently on a four-game home winning streak and are 14-3 at the Target Center.

Currently termed the best defensive team in the league, the Lynx are currently leading the Western Conference with an impressive offensive stat of 23.3 assists per game. In addition to this, their last 10 games have resulted in them scoring 84.1 points and grabbing 33.4 rebounds. As for the Sky, they are 2-8 in their last 10 games while averaging 76.5 points and 39.8 rebounds. Defensively, their opponents have managed to score 84.7 points against them.

Certainly, the Chicago Sky has a daunting task ahead. And without their key player, their playoff chances become more thin. It will be interesting to see how they respond to their current predicament.
