Yet another time, the WNBA has hit Caitlin Clark! Since the Fever rookie’s arrival in the WNBA, she has struggled to get used to the tactics used across the women’s league. Until now, she has been elbowed out by Sky’s guard in a matchup and felt left out by her teammates on the court. In a recent matchup against the Connecticut Sun, something similar happened, prompting Skip Bayless to dive in.

In a recent episode of Undisputed, Skip Bayless stated,So the fact is I’m showing the referees that she’s using her head or whatever, making it seem like it was just disrespectful.” To which the host replied, “How’s that disrespectful?” Meanwhile, Bayless clarified, “I’m letting the referee know that when I’m sliding and I’m guarding her and she’s dribbling, she’s pushing off on me.”

Bayless shed light on a recent incident during the Fever vs. Sun matchup. After commanding the team to a 55-35 lead at halftime, Sun’s guard DiJonai Carrington kept a tight check on her opponent. Clark, on the other hand, received an inbound pass from Kristy Wallace. Shortly after this, Carrington fouled Clark.

To review this, Clark came to the screen, and quite evidently, Carrington bumped into Clark. However, Carrington felt that the WNBA No.1 draft pick exaggerated the foul. After the whistle blew, an agitated Carrington started mocking Clark. No surprise, Carrington’s gestures struck a chord with fans who came to witness Clark’s impressive skills on the court, and they started booing. But do you know what happened after?

Clark’s struggles amid rising popularity

While many argued against the Connecticut Sun’s guard, others criticized Clark for her performance. Once again, the opponent team shined too brightly for Clark as they throttled the Fever 89-72. Despite contributing 10 points to the team, Clark unfortunately got benched in the second half of the game.

As of now, Clark averages 16.3 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game. But despite all this potential, Clark’s Fever stands at 3-10 this season. Undoubtedly, this is a low point for Clark, who struggles with being left off the USA’s roster, a cheap-shot Flagrant 1 foul by Chennedy Carter, and now a recent mock by the Sun’s guard. But what’s the reason for the hatred among the WNBA teams?

Clark is a blessing for the WNBA, as she led the league to an impressive 156% increase in attendance from last season. Not only this, but her fandom has also been vital in filling up WNBA arenas to 94% capacity. This seems to be the reason behind the unacceptable behavior of WNBA players.
