Angel Reese has always been unapologetic about who she is, and that boldness shines through in everything she does—including when she launched her own podcast, Unapologetically Angel. The podcast serves as her platform to have authentic conversations and challenge the negative media coverage she’s often subjected to. Well, the Chicago Sky frequently faces trolls on social media, but she’s never one to back down. In fact, she recently proved just how well she can handle criticism with a perfect comeback to an old critique tweet from her LSU days.

Angel Reese recently stirred up social media with a playful response to an old tweet that resurfaced on X . The tweet featured a poll asking, “Is Angel Reese a first-round draft pick?”—and over 64% of voters had chosen “no.” Fast forward to now, Reese has silenced all doubters as the seventh overall pick in the first round of the WNBA Draft. In true Reese fashion, she retweeted the poll with a cheeky caption: “appreciate you bookiesss🙈,” a subtle but sharp dig at the earlier skepticism.

But the Chi-Town Barbie wasn’t done there. Among the replies to her retweet, one critique stood out. The comment targeted her shooting skills, claiming: “U realize u can’t make a layup on the first try most times, right?”

Reese responded with a fiery comeback, effortlessly blending confidence with a touch of humor. She clapped back: “Do you realize I got drafted 7th in my class while ‘missing layups’ as a ROOKIE shooting 39% on the year & was STILL an All-Star? And that was the worst you’ll ever see me?? Or are you just laid up with your dog at home hating, Adam??”

The Chicago Sky forward later admitted that her lively interaction with those tweets was simply a way to pass the time during a boring flight. While the LSU alumna’s shooting stats left room for growth, her exceptional rebounding skills earned her the title of “Rebound Queen.” She made waves in her rookie year by setting a record for the longest double-double streak—a milestone that speaks volumes about her dominance on the court. Moreover, she was the only rookie to get selected along Caitlin Clark to feature in WNBA All-Stars game.

As a result, it’s easy to understand why she pushes back against criticism—after all, these trolls only fuel her drive.

The 22-year old has always been candid about how criticism fuels her drive to excel. “I want people to underestimate me. I’m telling you, I have everything bookmarked for the right moment when everything just falls right into my hands………. That’s why I’m always so competitive [and] have a really competitive edge,” Reese had said during her LSU times. And the recent incident was not the first time she involved in a spat with a fan.

Reese has stayed in the spotlight during the WNBA offseason with her career ventures off the court. From discussing her net worth at ComplexCon to giveaways and being named Style Influencer of the Year, she’s had much to celebrate. Her biggest accomplishment, though, is the success of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel. On last week’s Friday night, she took to X to promote the latest episode with college basketball star Mikey Williams.

However, when someone tried to diminish her achievement of reaching 200k views, asking, “Why is Angel Reese bragging about 200k views?” the Chicago Sky star didn’t hesitate to fire back as she knew how to handle criticism with her trademark wit and unapologetic attitude.

Clock that.” She sealed her mic-drop moment with a lips emoji, leaving her critic speechless and proving once again why she’s a master of owning the narrative. This is how Reese keeps surpassing expectations, both in the game and beyond, with her confidence, resilience, and unapologetic attitude driving her continued success and influence in the sports world.
