Caitlin Clark's ROTY win: A sign of future WNBA dominance or just a lucky start?

It has been a historic year for Caitlin Clark and an enthralling one for her fans. The Indiana Fever might have failed to get past the first round of the playoffs, but the rookie didn’t disappoint. After much anticipation, it was finally announced that Clark had been crowned the WNBA Rookie of the Year. With an iconic season behind her, the 22-year-old reminisced about the day it all began. She shared a wholesome picture from her WNBA Draft day on her Instagram handle.

In the picture, the Fever star is seen sharing a sweet moment, embracing her boyfriend Connor McCaffery in a hug. “Draft day throwback,” she captioned. Below the bright, nostalgic picture, she wrote, “Connor-M30, I’m so lucky.” Clark was drafted as the first overall pick back in April, and as the picture shows, it was an emotional moment for everyone involved.

While fans poured in heartfelt wishes for her ROTY achievement, she celebrated the moment with nothing but pure joy. Even though rumors were circulating for days, fans eagerly awaited the official announcement that Caitlin Clark had won with 66 out of 67 votes. However, this also caused a bit of disappointment that she didn’t win unanimously. Regardless, the excitement is evident on social media.

Greg Oden has stepped down from his position as the assistant coach for the Bulldogs. Initially, there were just rumors that the Pacers’ assistant coach would replace him, but the speculation grew stronger with the fact that McCaffery’s younger brothers are on the Bulldogs’ roster.

Cancer survivor, Patrick who played for five years with Iowa, recently transferred to the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, the youngest brother, Jack, has committed to join the Bulldogs in 2025. Fans are eagerly anticipating a full McCaffery family reunion. That will be quite a formidable one. However, that would also mean Clark and Connor would have some distance between them.
