Another day, another record under Angel Reese’s name! Today, the Chicago Sky clashed with the Indiana Fever for the third time this season. In the last two games in Indianapolis, the Fever took both games against the Sky. But Chicago has its revenge now. Coming off a win against the Dallas Wings on June 21, the Sky once again roared with double the reason to celebrate on Sunday.

While the Chicago Sky’s roster, through collaborative efforts, claimed a close 88-87 victory, Chi Barbie recorded another double-double to her record. Notably, in the last matchup against the Dallas Wings, Reese became the first WNBA rookie to claim seven consecutive double-doubles in the league’s history. But, as her thirst remains unquenched, she has now added another!

Now, Reese stands with Sylvia Fowles at the fourth spot for the most consecutive double-doubles in league history. As the Maryland native is adding a double-double in each matchup, it seems that she’ll end up surpassing Candace Parker’s record of 12 consecutive double-doubles and winning the rookie season record of 22 double-doubles held by Tina Charles.

The Indiana Fever, on the other hand, struggled on the court despite the WNBA No. 1 draft pick in their attempt to secure their fifth consecutive win. However, all efforts went in vain as the No. 3 team in the power rankings of the WNBA settled for a loss. This left spectators disheartened and sparked an intriguing online debate.

What do fans have to say about Fever vs. Sky?

One of the users penned, “The WNBA Rookie of the Year race between Angel Reese & Caitlin Clark will be the stuff of legends.” Both Reese and Clark showcased impressive basketball skills and an intense on-court rivalry in the WNBA, making their first year a battle for the Rookie of the Year title. Clark and Reese both have already set historical records.

“Angel Reese and Clark had huge games,” added another spectator. Every time Clark and Reese faced off, it was a must-watch. However, today’s showdown hooked the audience to their seats. While Reese had a game-high 25 points and 16 rebounds, Clark countered it with 17 points and 13 assists.

The Indiana vs. Chicago fourth quarter was really entertaining and chaotic. Angel Reese balled out. Caitlin Clark was invisible down the stretch,” penned another user. Indiana was up 12 at one point in the fourth quarter. However, they decided to go cold at the wrong time, letting Chicago storm back into the game. The Sky outscored Indiana 24-15 in the fourth.

The major thrill came in the fourth quarter, with the scoreboard tied at 82-82 and three minutes remaining. As the game progressed, the score tied again at 84-84 with a minute to go. However, the Chicago Sky played smartly, taking and maintaining a lead until the game’s end. “Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese put on a show in their third matchup of the season, as the Chicago Sky take home the win over the Indiana Fever,” added another user. Finally, the game ended 88-87, with the Sky earning their first win of the season against the Fever.

The standout player was undoubtedly Angel Reese. “balling and talking all that sh**” said a fan. They were happy that Reese was finally able to back up all her trash-talking with a monstrous game.

Despite attempting her logo3 shots throughout the matchup, Clark passed the ball rather than taking a shot at the last moment. If she had attempted it, the score and the fate of the Fever might have been different. “How does Caitlin Clark not shoot the three there? She passed up a signature moment to hit a game-winner over Reese,” added another, questioning Clark’s decision.

However, the fans didn’t stop there. “The Indiana Fever got fouled twelve times before that final play. Must be that special whistle Angel Reese was talking about,” mocked another user. The last time the Fever faced the Sky, Reese was tasked with tightly guarding Clark. In that game, Clark was flagrantly fouled by Reese. In the heat of the moment, Reese made a comment, “Some people get a special whistle,” which immediately caught fire and spread across the internet.

Now, the WNBA world eagerly awaits the Fever vs. Sky fourth battle scheduled for August 30th. Will the Fever be able to make a comeback? Comment down below!
