The Chicago Sky is struggling might be an understatement for many. Even Angel Reese with her double-doubles not being able to get the Windy City some dubs is facing scrutiny by fans and analysts alike. In the meantime, Caitlin Clark and the Fever have not missed a beat. With her averaging 24.2 points in the last five games, she has even converted one of the loudest critics of LeBron James — Skip Bayless — as an avid Fever fan. In fact, the analyst even praised Caitlin Clark using a LeBron-esuque analogy, but not before voicing his opinion on the ROTY race. The former FS1 analyst doesn’t feel the LSU alum is part of it all as he lists her shortcomings.
While answering a fan question on his return show, the 72-year-old said, “You’re right, the truth is Angel’s a poor shooter of the basketball. I don’t know any other way to say it; she’s just a poor shooter. She’s now 38% from the floor, not from three; she’s two of 12 from three that’s 17%,” said Skip Bayless. In the last 5 games, Reese has only shot 33.89% from the field and before the Olympic break, she averaged 40%.
The question that the analyst referred to was about the ROTY debate and comparing Angel Reese to Clark would mean comparing Dennis Rodman to Michael Jordan. One had dominance in the paint while one was the offensive force that could turn tides for his team. Before answering it, Bayless admitted that for the majority of the season, he was rooting for the Sky rookie to win the award. Especially, because of her double-double streak and her rebounding abilities, which he called Rodman-esque.

One thing that impressed the media veteran was Clark’s ability to pass and score, especially her famous 3-point shooting range. “It’s gotten to the point where Rookie of the Year is over two-three weeks ago. All of a sudden Caitlin Clark is starting to push A’ja Wilson for MVP of this league,” Bayless added.
Speaking about her impact on the team is why Bayless has chosen Caitlin Clark over Angel Reese. The Des Moines native has created at least 37% of the total points that the Fever has scored. Hence, Bayless even claimed that it is time for people to consider the Fever Rookie for the league MVP debate.

Bayless sees no merit in Angel Reese and her ROTY contention
The return to action after the Olympic break has changed the landscape drastically for Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Losing the first game back, then winning just one, and then again winless in the next seven games haven’t helped their fortune. The Sky is occupying the last spot in the playoffs race with just 7 games remaining without a surety of making it to the postseason action.

Further elaborating, Bayless said that Angel Reese has been unable to inspire his team to victory. After suffering a loss in the T-Mobile Arena, the Chicago team is winless in seven straight games. And even the 22-year-old’s double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds fell short in front of 18,394 fans.

On the other end, Indiana is on a 5-game winning streak and has just one loss in eight games since the Olympic break. While she continues to break records, Bayless couldn’t help but appreciate Clark’s passing range. Calling her a “once-in-a-generation passer” and comparing her with LeBron James. “I’m talking about gifted LeBron-esque bounce passing.”
She has also averaged 24.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 9.1 assists in the last 8 games. Currently, Clark is shooting 47.8% from the field and 38.8% from beyond the arc. Not to forget, she has been breaking and creating rookie and WNBA records left and right, only solidifying her case as not just the ROTY but also one of the challenging competitors in the MVP race.
