The Los Angeles Sparks clashed with the Las Vegas Aces in their recent game at the Crypto Arena on Sunday. The game was a close contest as both the teams tried to outdo each other. The Sparks relied on a lot of rotations to give each of their players some time while the Aces relied on their core players to score for them and went ahead with the veterans. In the end, the result was shocking as the Sparks trumped Aces. However, one moment that left the viewers in shock was when the Aces star A’ja Wilson tried to score a layup. And what happened next could have injured Wilson.

Wilson was trying to pot a layup against the Sparks when she jumped on one foot. However, Cameron Brink, who was defending the post put her hand up and jumped against Wilson. The Aces veteran struck Brink and fell hard on the ground. This had everyone concerned since Wilson looked in pain. The video of the same was posted on the YouTube channel WBB Clips.

Their head coach Becky Hammon rushed to the spot while the game was halted for a few minutes. All the Aces teammates gathered around A’ja Wilson, inquiring about her health. Wilson till then as per the commentators had smashed 5 blocks, with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Therefore, it looked as if the Aces had suffered a major loss in the game. More importantly, the Aces were trailing by a 57-67 margin.

Wilson however came back to the court after some time to drop 31 points with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Hence, she gave her best for the Aces which unfortunately wasn’t enough as they lost by a close margin of 92-96. Nonetheless, fans enjoyed the game and also scrutinized Wilson with their condemning eyes.

Fans make fun of A’ja Wilson

“That was a bigger flop than Madam Web. Brink ain’t built like that, Aja is 3 Brinks, sympathy plays work,” one fan compared Wilson’s fall to Madame Web. According to the fan, Wilson was just acting since both Brink and Wilson are 6 feet 4 inches in height but the latter is 88 kgs, almost 11 more than Brink. Madame Web is a new movie with Dakota Johnson in the lead which failed to perform at the box office. According to the user, Wilson’s theatricals were worse than that.

“These sports reporters are a joke – the girl took a dive then milked it. Blind Freddie could’ve seen it even without all the replays,” another user pointed out the fact that A’ja Wilson hit Brink first and then tried to jump while making a layup and fell after that. The netizen took a dig at the reporter who had to play the replays to get the exact situation.

“She Flopped,” another user supported the claims of Wilson doing a stint just to gain sympathy. The netizen as others did took a dig at the 27-year-old.

“We know why she did this because of Caitlin CLARK,” another user also stated that Wilson did this because of Caitlin Clark. Notably, there is a narrative in the WNBA and Clark dispute being the rookie is hogging all the limelight and this has other athletes jealous. As per the user, maybe Wilson too wanted to have a story for herself in the WNBA which could bring her into the spotlight and have the viewers rooting for her.

“Brinks barely touched her,” Another user stated that Brink had barely touched her and maybe was opining that it was Wilson’s own fault.

Hopefully, Wilson will choose to ignore such comments and continue her on-song performances as she tries to take her team to triple glory.
