Kelsey Plum has to be the up-and-coming Las Vegas Aces star who knows how to entertain her spectators. After giving a “blank” look to her WNBA fans, the guard has done something very similar on the world’s biggest stage for sports. It might be her very first outing as a part of Team USA, but the 2x champion’s confidence did not seem to offer hints of that. At the same time, her fans found two reasons to be happy about as the USA won over Japan in the opening game.

With just 13 seconds left in the third quarter, Kelsey Plum got hit while going for a layup. Consequently, she stumbled and fell to the floor, drawing a foul on Himawari Akaho of Japan. But her ability to force a foul was not what surprised the viewers. To everyone’s delight, she quickly sat on the floor and threw a “peace sign” with her fingers with a big smile and said something inaudible. The referees awarded Team USA’s plum with two free throws which she successfully turned.

We can understand the relief as just in the second quarter, Kahleah Copper on Team USA became a victim of physicality. Rui Machida on Team Japan was making her shot and as she jumped, her hip connected with Copper’s right ribs, sending her out of the game until the final 10 minutes.

Despite getting an upper hand over Japan in every quarter, Team USA’s first half was quite slow. However, they picked up the pace to triumph over their 2020 Tokyo Olympics Finals opponents in a 102-76 win. Indeed, they opened their Paris Olympics account on a happy note. Still, Kelsey Plum’s reaction to hitting the floor was what gained the most traction.

Fans cheer for Team USA’s Kelsey Plum as she gets ‘free selfies’ vs Japan

Interestingly, this was not the first time that the Las Vegas Aces star got in front of the camera. Previously, she did something similar during a WNBA game against the Los Angeles Sparks. Then, she gave a surprised/ blank look to the camera before laughing at herself right then and there. Bringing back the memory, many viewers commented about her hidden talent to become a meme by finding cameras.

“She always finds the camera 😆😆”

“Meme Queen.👑”

Kelsey Plum of Team USA is not the only WNBA player that you will find doing something like this. In fact, Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter is also quite popular for giving her fans a peek into her funny side. Angel Reese too grabbed a lot of fan reactions when she made a “smug” face in their only win over the New York Liberty.

“KP and Chennedy is really good at this 😂”

Many professional basketball players have various interests outside of the sport. While Kelsey Plum has ensured that she would like to open up a business, a fan gave her another profession that she can make a career in. They suggested that she was not going for basketball but landed there accidentally. A cameraperson was what suited the Aces star better, a fan believes.

“She is Accidental player Camera person was her dream 😂❤️”

These days WNBA is gaining a lot of attention and for all the right reasons. In turn, many athletes have started to interact with the crowd while playing. Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever rookie, is an elite example of this. But looks like Kelsey Plum too is following through. The brilliant player is quick, knows how to make deep cuts, hits three-pointers, and makes the arena roar in laughter with her stints. A fan commented just that and applauded the 2x back-to-back WNBA champion for this.

“Absolutely, Kelsey Plum has an amazing knack for it. She truly knows how to captivate an audience, both on and off the court!”
