Sabrina Ionescu is one of the brightest talents in the WNBA today. The 25-year-old has slowly molded herself into an elite guard and stands above the rest when it comes to her 3-point shooting prowess. Recently breaking an NBA record during the WNBA 3-point contest Ionescu has continued her immense rise to the top as the 2x WNBA All-Star enters her third playoff in as many years. As the first player, man or woman, to accumulate 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds in NCAA history, Ionescu has always been destined for greatness.
After failing to win an NCAA championship during her time in Oregon the number one pick seems determined to change that narrative in the WNBA as she has led the New York Liberty to a playoff in every season. N0w facing the Washington Mystics in the playoffs’ Round 1, Ionescu recently sat down with an ex-NBA star as she discussed sharing similarities to LeBron James and a ‘dejected’ ex-Laker.

NY Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu recently made an appearance on the podcast, The Old Man and The Three, as host JJ Reddick taped this special episode during Sabrina’s signature shoe release with Nike earlier this week. The two dived into many various topics before Reddick questioned the former All-Star, “What is the mindset of a triple doubler?”
A feat common to ‘dejected’ Laker Russel Westbrook the Liberty star thought about the question for a bit before replying by stating, “Finding a way to contribute in every category.” Elaborating the statement further the 2023 WNBA shootout champion explained how one couldn’t always score and needed to be on the lookout for an assist.
The 2020 Naismith Player of the Year also spoke about “finding ways to stay on the court” while she reiterated her point about contributing to every category.
This mindset from Ionescu is reminiscent of LeBron James as the king too is known for contributing to the team while finding ways to stay on the court.
Notably, NBA icon Russel Westbrook on the other hand has become a journeyman of sorts ever since he left OKC in 2019.

The Lakers? plan for the ‘dejected’ NBA star
While he still remained a pivotal piece during his time in Houston and Washington, the 2017 MVP hasn’t had the same luck in the City of Angels. Suiting up for both the LA Lakers and the Clippers during the past few seasons Westbrook has failed to leave a mark on any team as his hunt for his first title still remains.
Still contracted to the LA Lakers, Westbrook has left many fans ‘dejected’ over his performances as the star continues to dwindle into obscurity year by year. The 9x NBA All-Star is reportedly expected to exercise his player option with the Purple and Gold leaving many fans angered over this decision.
