The 28th WNBA season just wrapped up, but the fans have more exciting times ahead! The league released its 2025 schedule, sparking intrigue among fans eager to mark their calendars for the season’s most anticipated matchups. Teams across the league jumped at the chance to make their announcement graphics as eye-catching and creative as possible. But, as it turns out, Seattle Storm may have taken things a little too far. Their seemingly bold choice to feature other team’s stars on their schedule reveal posts didn’t exactly sit well with fans, especially Caitlin Clark stans.
The Storm’s social media team decided to highlight their matchups against the Indiana Fever by using a graphic of the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. The post showed Clark standing against a disco ball backdrop with “Caitlin Clark Saturday Night Fever” and a caption, “You should be dancing 🕺🎶.”
While it was undeniably catchy and creative, it also felt a little odd. After all, why is a Fever player front and center in a Storm announcement? Turns out, it was a pattern for all their matchup announcements, as they posted multiple graphics featuring star players from opposing teams throughout the schedule reveal.

However, this one captured the most attention. Obviously, the point guard commands an enormous fanbase. Meanwhile, Indiana kept things simple, releasing a clean, straightforward graphic featuring Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Caitlin Clark. But it sparked its own fair share of speculation due to Mitchell’s inclusion.

But keeping it all aside, don’t forget Seattle will host the Indiana Fever twice at Climate Pledge Arena on June 24 and August 3 before heading to Indianapolis for a third showdown at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on August 26.
These matchups were already some of the most anticipated ones, and Caitlin Clark’s star power is undoubtedly a big reason why. Now, after this graphic, this will get more interesting. But for the time being, fans are not holding back. Social media is flooded with reactions, not very pretty ones.
Seattle Storm sparks fan backlash with Caitlin Clark graphic: Over the top or just attention-grabbing?
Seems like many WNBA fans are not cheering for the Seattle Storm 2025 schedule. They are confused, frustrated, and more. One X user wrote, “They are just mocking her now🙄🙄 GT–H wish there was a league that took her serious. Shit like this they are somewhere laughing about it.”
Clark’s fans are fiercely loyal, and they don’t take kindly to anything they perceive as disrespectful. And they already believe she’s been treated unfairly by some corners of the WNBA. So, this graphic naturally felt like a bad joke. While another said, “Once again, using CC for views.”
Fever Guard is undoubtedly the WNBA’s most marketable star right now. The franchise’s ticket sales skyrocketed by 265%, and jersey sales were up over 1,000% last season. However, “using her for views” might not be far from the truth, but it also reinforces just how much she’s in the spotlight.
A different section wanted to know why Storm just didn’t make the graphics centered around their own players as one asked, “Why didn’t you just post Nika?” We know that Nika Mühl, Seattle’s 2024 draftee, also carried her UConn stardom into the WNBA. Even named the league’s Most Stylish Player of 2024, she has a decent fanbase. And it could have been a more organic choice.

Another confused fan penned, “Why does Caitlin Clark have a bloody hand in this photo, basically saying already, these 3 games will be a massacre with Fever winning all 3.”

While some were straight-up irritated, some fans noticed odd elements in the graphic—like Clark’s “bloody hand”—and took it as a dramatic foreshadowing of what they believe will be Indiana sweeping Seattle in all three games. However, it simply seems to be a photo-editing error and nothing more.
Granted, the Fever lost three out of four matchups against the Storm last season, but this year, fans are hopeful for a redemption led by Clark. Meanwhile, some users simply targeted their social media team saying, “Unprofessional graphic. Please fire your editor 🤣😂”

But whatever the Storm’s intentions were, their Caitlin Clark graphic certainly got people talking (not for the right reasons, though). If attention was the goal, mission accomplished. But if Seattle wanted to foster goodwill, they might have to go back to the drawing board next time.
