Furthermore, a fine of $25,000 has been imposed on New York Liberty. In addition to this, popular Liberty faces like Sabrina Ionescu, Jonquel Jones, and Betnijah Laney were each fined $2000.

Not the first time in the WNBA Final!

The New York Liberty is not the first team to react like this after a defeat. In the 2021 WNBA Finals, Chigaco Sky defeated Phoenix Mercury. Interestingly, Sandy Brondello was the head coach of the Phoenix Mercury. After the game, only Sandy faced the media; the players didn’t bother to show up. WNBA fined Mercury $10,000 back then.

Just like wins and losses are part of a player’s game, media duties are also a part of their job. Some of the best inspirational quotes and stories in sports have been provided by the losing players.
