After the USA women’s basketball team defeated Germany 84-57 on Tuesday, they caught the flight for Paris where the Olympics games will take center stage. The Olympics opening ceremony is scheduled to begin in a few hours on Friday and will have the players sailing on boats on the River Seine. The Tokyo Olympics ceremony was pale since it wasn’t open to spectators owing to COVID-19 protocols but this Olympics ceremony is different and hence, the athletes are choosing their best attire to wear on the occasion and will also have their families applaud their efforts.
Even WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu posted a picture being dressed in a Team USA blazer with jeans and white sneakers along with her husband Hroniss Grasu who flew from 3,626 miles from New York to Paris to support his wife. He donned a white t-shirt and shorts and was ready to cheer for his lady. The picture of the same was posted by Ionescu on her social media networking platform Instagram’s story. She had captioned the story “Opening ceremony Ready” along with the US flag.
Grasu and Ionescu’s relationship first came into the limelight in August 2021, when Ionescu wished Grasu his birthday via a social media post. The couple has been on a happy path ever since especially when Grasu surprised Ionescu by proposing to her in January 2023. Ionescu had previously thought that it was a GQ photoshoot which later turned into an unexpected proposal. And in March this year, the duo tied the knot in Laguna Beach, California.

Since then, Grasu has proved that he is a supportive husband and has always lauded his partner from the sidelines. And now that Ionescu has flown to Paris after having an exceptional WNBA season, Grasu has made sure that he gets a chance to watch his wife ply her trade at the highest level and go for her team’s eighth consecutive gold medal. Furthermore, Team USA already looks amped up after they won their exhibition game against Germany in London.

What’s your perspective on:
Would you travel 3,626 miles to support your spouse like Hroniss Grasu did for Sabrina Ionescu?
Have an interesting take?
Ionescu who scored 8 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists stated that her game against Germany in London was a “breath of fresh air,” as per Just Women’s Sports. And there was only one goal which was “to win.” She, therefore, forgot her WNBA on-court rivalry with the Las Vegas Aces A’ja Wilson and the two helped their team win the game. Wilson scored a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Other than Wilson, another player who played exceptionally well was Breanna Stewart who scored 15 points with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Thus, it was a comprehensive display from each of the Team USA stars.
