What defines a spectacular baller? Is it the dunks? The rebounds? Or the endorsements? Among many things surrounding the balling world, one that stands out is the shoes. Basketball is one of the few sports that is played with hands but has gained a lot of traction for shoes.
Starting with Kareem Abdul Jabbar in 1971, the tradition of having a sneaker line associated with a baller has come a long way and now another balling star Sabrina Ionescu has got her feet in the second edition of her namesake sneakers.

Sabrina 2s are ‘Cave Purple’ in color with dashes of black. They have an uplifted tongue and a design near the sole side. An S standing for Sabrina is engraved on the tongue portion in purple which shines and stands out in the shoes. The design looks to be a mesh such that the material is breathable and easy for athletes who sweat while playing their favorite game.

Although all the key features are yet to be brought to public light, the sneaker line will most probably be priced at USD 130 and can be bought through Nike SNKRS. The shoe box also has the signature S and Sabrina’s autograph. On the side of the box, her name has been engraved in grey. However, this is not the first time that Ionescu will get a sneaker line to her name.
Sabrina Ionescu’s first shoe line
Previously, Nike had launched the Sabrina 1 in September 2023. The shoes gained so much popularity that the NBA star Jrue Holiday became the first player to don the coveted shoes during a game for the Boston Celtics. Ionescu was so taken over by Holiday’s gesture that she stated “I don’t even think I watched the game. I was really just watching his feet,” in an exclusive with ESPN.

The sneakers were an instant hit which can gauged from the fact that around 77 players wore them during the 2023-24 season. In a way, they extended their support to Ionescu and in turn to women’s sports.
Other WNBA athletes to get signature shoes include Sheryl Swoopes, Rebecca Lobo, Nikki McCray, Candace Parker, and Breanna Stewart. Therefore, Ionescu has joined a list of legendary women. Hopefully, with this latest step, Ionescu will get more support in the current WNBA season and athletes will be keen to get their feet in Sabrina 2s.
