The dedication she plays with is unmatched as she keeps her young and competitive spirit alive all along. On the court, she is considered one of the elite shooters in the W. Remember when she went toe-to-toe with arguably the greatest shooter of all time, Stephen Curry, at the NBA All-Star Weekend? That’s how good she is.

As for off the court, she is nothing short of an impactful businesswoman who is bringing about a change for the better. After entering the WNBA in 2020, Ionescu signed a 3-year deal with the New York Liberty worth $213,597 with an average annual salary of $71,199. In between, she exercised an $86,701 option for the 2023 season. Before the season arrived, she signed a 2-year extension worth $410,060 with the Liberty with a guaranteed annual salary of $205,030 along with a base salary and cap hit of $202,000. In the next season, this amount will grow to a base salary and cap hit of $208,060.

If we break her salary through her career so far, Ionescu’s earnings have been growing. In her inaugural season, her annual earnings were around $68,000. In 2021, Sabrina Ionescu made $69, 360 while in the 2022 season, her salary climbed up to $76,297.

Last year, Ionescu received $86,701. However, this season, her salary took a huge leap as she is making $202,000. While the amount in her WNBA contracts fades in comparison to the NBA, her major source of income is off-court, making her net worth around $5 million as of 2024.

Her leadership and scoring abilities have landed her endorsement deals with lucrative brands like Nike and Tissot. Her name skyrocketed after she put a stellar conclusion to her collegiate career, amassing 2000 points, 1000 rebounds, and 1000 assists. The then AP Player of the Year has then signed a multi-year deal with Nike worth around $24 million approx.

Endorsements and Business Investments that Ionescu is involved in

This deal turned out to be a landmark statement for women’s basketball because of her signature shoe and clothing line. “Their partnership has been a dream come true—everything I could have possibly imagined and more. From when I got drafted in 2020 to now, just their vision for me and for women’s sports has far exceeded my expectations and just seeing how they’ve been able to really advocate for what they believe in,” Ionescu stated, reflecting on how the brand understood her vision and brought it out with her signature shoe.

Nike endorsed the 3x WNBA All-Star with a multi-year exclusive marketing collaboration. As a result, last year, she launched her first signature shoe and apparel collection with Nike, i.e. the Sabrina 1. The shoe made her the first women’s basketball player to deliver a unisex signature collection with the iconic brand.

“My main goal was wanting a unisex shoe to give opportunity for girls, boys, anyone to wear the shoe. I was excited to continue to break down barriers and wanted to do that with them, who also believe in that as well,” she further elaborated on this unique feature of Sabrina 1.

She also coordinates with the sports business media network, Boardroom, which was established by NBA star Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, offering an inside perspective to enhance her business portfolio.

It was super important to me in just wanting to extend my footprint here in New York. Having played here now for two seasons—the first was in the bubble—it’s just nice to see the fan base and how much they’ve given me and supported me and understand that I do have a platform, especially in the communities that have meant so much,” she said.

The foundation hosted its inaugural event in partnership with DREAM Charter School in New York City with a basketball clinic for 75 middle school students who trained with Ionescu and competed against her in a game of knockout.
