On multiple occasions as an LSU standout, Angel Reese displayed some exemplary examples of leadership. Now, as a rookie in Chicago, the 2023 national champion is blossoming under something very similar. Apparently, her transition from the ‘Bayou Barbie’ to the ‘Chi-Barbie’ is slowly coming to the surface. Proof of that was provided by The 3x All-American forward after the Chicago-Connecticut game.

Angel Reese was asked to reflect on Marina Mabrey carrying the offensive baton of the team. Reese went on and responded, “She’s always consistent. She comes out and makes shots early on for us and then late game, she always does that. She makes a lot of clutch shots…I’m just grinding to go get the rebounds sometimes. We run a lot of our offense through Marina. That’s our go-to.”

The talented No.4 of the Chicago Sky has been in top-notch form and delivered a 20+ performance for the second game in a row. She was able to score 23 points on an 8 of 18 shooting night. In addition to this, she grabbed 5 rebounds and distributed 4 assists with just 3 turnovers next to her name. Some efficient distance shooting was also witnessed by the 9,025 in attendance as Mabrey buried 4 out of her 7 threes and converted all three attempts from the free-throw line.

Unfortunately, her efforts came up short and she ended up on the losing side. Now, Angel Reese and Chicago will play host to the 4x WNBA champions who will be riding high in confidence following a monumental win.

An inter-conference clash is on the cards Tuesday evening when Seattle will visit the Wintrust Arena. Both teams are on a similar course winning 50% of their games till now. Anyhow, the Storms are fresh off their onslaught over the Washington Mystics where they won by a margin of 32 points at home.

All eyes will be on the Storm’s power forward Nneka Ogwumike who is currently the team’s leader in points and rebounds. At the same time, the Sky also need to watch out for the playmaking abilities of Skylar Diggins-Smith who currently averages 6.2 assists per game.

The upcoming fixture will surely serve as a huge challenge for Angel Reese and Co. Come what may, they still have the firepower to overcome the threats posed by the opposition. Who will have the upper hand in this enthralling contest? We’ll have to wait and see.
