It’s only been a week since the 2024 WNBA season and the rookies are starting to shine while defending the win for their teams. Today, Cameron Brink made it happen for the LA Sparks. The team was playing against Washington and held the lead for the better part of it. Moreover, guard Lexie Brown registered a team-high score of 20 points, followed by center Dearica Hamby and forward Kia Nurse, adding 17 and 13 respectively.

The power-packed team demonstrated firebolt efficiency to lead LA to its first win of the season. But the major applause goes to Brink for a strong defense when the game crawled near to its end.

Cameron Brink’s moves proved pivotal in the last minutes of the game today as she refused to loosen up on defense multiple times. It happened in the last minutes of the 4th quarter when Mystics’ forward, Shakira Austin was in the lane to make a layup. Austin, who is playing in her 3rd season in the WNBA, was the 3rd overall pick of the 2022 draft.

Just then, the dominant shot-blocker, Brink didn’t budge on Austin’s maneuvers and stood firm with recurring blocks. Then it was only about time that the officials’ whistle blew and the Sparks had their first win of the season with 70-68 on the scoreboard.

Ever since her debut, Cameron Brink has been performing remarkably. In the season opener against the Atlanta Dream, Brink registered 2 blocks. Followed by her second game, which was against the back-to-back champions, the Las Vegas Aces, she registered an impressive 5 blocks. With today’s win, Cameron’s block count has gone up to 10.
