Basketball can be a brutal game at times. One such incident surfaced during the Chicago Sky’s clash against the Indiana Fever on Saturday. While both teams were fighting neck to neck in the competition, an intentional foul caused fans to lose their cool. The Chicago Sky’s star Chennedy Carter appeared to cross the line as she deliberately pushed Caitlin Clark with the thump of her body against her. Clark who wasn’t looking at her during that time seemed surprised with such behavior and fell on the floor.

Fans and Clark, at the moment, were anticipating a foul call from the referee which didn’t happen. Piling on to that, Reese and Carter were laughing over something after the third quarter which was speculated by many to be the push the latter made against Clark. Reese had her hand over Carter and both were seen discussing something with Teresa Weatherspoon right after Carter escaped a flagrant foul. The Fever led by a 53-49 margin with it. The video of the same was tweeted on the social media networking platform X and fans had different reactions to it.

One fan went as far as stating that the referees were biased against the 2024 No.1 Draft pick. Clark had previously also mentioned that she had to adjust to the physicality of the WNBA and a lot of fouls that would have been called out in the NCAA. However, they go unnoticed in the WNBA. “Referees really don’t protect Caitlin Clark,” stated the fan.

“What was the point of Carter pushing Clark like that? Also why won’t Carter pass the ball to Reese?” another user commented. The fan pointed to the fact that the push was not needed since Clark was nowhere near the ball. And it was just an aggressive move from Carter.

“Chennedy Carter picks up a foul after pushing Clark down while she was waiting to inbound the ball. It’s an away from the ball foul, which is a free throw and possession. Clark makes the free throw and end the quarter with a 54-49 lead,” a fan stated. The fan was pointing to the fact that Clark potted a free throw after that which helped the Fever maintain their lead.

“Clark been pushing off all game,” a user commented. The user was pointing to the fact that Clark has accepted that she is taking her time to adjust to the physicality of the WNBA and may be the opposition is taking advantage of it.

“And despite the cheap shots at Caitlin Clark by Chennedy Carter, Clark’s team just beat Carter and Angel Reese’s team. Nice job by Clark to not let it impact her composure,” one user also stated that it was a cheap trick by Carter and the Fever ultimately won by a margin of 71-70. Meanwhile, Reese seemed happy about the push.

Angel Reese hyped up on the bench

Reese who was on the bench at that time looked hyped up as she stood and shouted some words to Carter while clapping. This one again reminded fans of the animosity between Clark and Reese and how the latter was enjoying a show against Clark.

Notably, the two have been said to be at opposite ends since their clash during the NCAA 2023 Finals when Reese had done the ‘You Can’t See Me’ move against Clark. Since then the media outlets have been rife with the news of their rivalry and this move by Reese only looks to support the same.

Perhaps, Clark will soon get accustomed to the physicality in the WNBA and keep winning hearts with her exceptional display. On the other hand, Reese & Co. will figure out other ways to stop Clark in the WNBA.
