“My boyfriend grew up a really big Phillies fan, so I kinda had to like the Phillies,” Caitlin Clark stated in September sharing her love for the Phillies during a media session. And now that the Philadelphia team will be battling it out against the NY Mets in the playoff game on Saturday, who could have been more excited than Clark’s boyfriend Connor McCaffery? And yes he did something to show his love for the team.
McCaffery posted the song “Dancing on My Own” composed by Calum Scott and Tiësto on his Instagram story on Saturday. The song’s cover had been posted from Spotify and had the Phillies’ official account tagged in it. Plus, as per the snap he posted, the song was playing in the Tesla Model Y which is over $50K! Though it isn’t confirmed if it is his car, Spotify had a Google account starting from “C” which many fans speculated belonged to McCaffery.
The Phillies are having the best times in the MLB. They entered the league as runner-ups and are looking to get a chance to improve upon their last season’s position. In September this year, they booked themselves a postseason berth by defeating their division rival New York Mets by a 12-2 margin. Now they will be playing their first postseason game against the Mets in a series of five. And McCaffery would be hoping that the Phillies clean sweep the series.

As for the song, maybe McCaffery is hinting at his love for the Phillies since it was the perfect lyrical for the Phillies during the 2023 season when they finished second in the National League. However, they had to face disappointment in NLCS Game 6 and 7. The song is said to have defined the Phillies’ season for the past two years specifically the Red October, which was the countdown to the start of their postseason. Looks like McCaffery is wishing for another solid start to the series that commences today onwards.

Caitlin Clark reveals being a Phillies fan due to one reason
In September, Clark had commentated during a game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers game, which was playing on TV. Her teammate Lexie Hull posted the TikTok and it went viral. When she revealed that she was a Phillies fan, many of her critics leveled accusations that she was just jumping on the bandwagon since the Rob Thomson-coached team was performing well in the season. Denying any such opportunist intentions, Clark claimed that her love for the Phillies was driven by her boyfriend Connor McCaffery.
She stated that growing up in Des Moines, she didn’t have many options when it came to teams. While everyone knows of her love for Maya Moore, not many are aware that Clark was a Kansas City Chiefs fan before they had established their dominance in the NFL circuit. “I’m not like a diehard any baseball team. My dad was a big Royals fan,” Clark divulged before expounding that once she got into a relationship with McCaffery, it was all about the Phillies since the latter is a die-hard fan. Nonetheless, in her own words, the former NCAA Queen likes Bryce Harper and the Phillies team as a whole.

Later, she also gave a shoutout to all commentators who do the “hard gig,” pointing out that she was “out of breath and exhausted.” Hopefully, the Phillies will give her such edge-of-the-seat moments tonight against the Mets and if they emerge victorious, it will be a cherry on the cake for the WNBA ROTY and her boyfriend with the expensive Tesla Model Y.
