The WNBA season looks like a sumptuous affair between Caitlin Clark and her fans. The WNBA has sold 93% more tickets than they did last season. Clark is also a probable for the upcoming Paris Olympics, and would most likely join the bandwagon with her exemplary skills. However, an Iowa reporter shed light on Clark’s much-anticipated participation in the Olympics.
Scott Dochterman was present during the last presentation of Locked on Hawkeyes with Trent Condon. And that had the Iowa fame reporter getting candid on Clark’s performance and why she should take a pause on her Olympic dreams.

Dochterman was present in a call with Condon during the interview on Wednesday and dissected Clark’s special case. He analyzed the whole Clark situation when questioned about her future events. During the interview, Dochterman said, “That… that seems to be the indication. I mean, I, but I…I honestly don’t know…I mean it’s just weird to me how…two weeks ago was her first WNBA game. Just two weeks ago. And yet, we…we sometimes, you know, for the Twitter barking and what you have…it seems like she’s played for two months and she sucked..”
Dochterman spoke at length about the criticisms floating about Clark on the internet. She has been able to score only 17.3 points per game in the current WNBA season. Her performances are decent but fall short when compared to her exceptional 40-pointer games in the NCAA. Therefore, Clark has been drawing a lot of flak.
“And it’s like no…her, you know, she scores more points than anybody else. Her, her teammates don’t do anything for her at all. Their screens are bad. They don’t set her up for any shots. She’s the defacto point guard and then…And if she…has to create her own shots and that’s it. I mean, she’s passing the ball but nobody’s passing it to her in an open spot,” he continued.
Previously, Clark with the Hawkeyes was their core athlete. She would get the ball whenever she had an open space and scored top-notch points for her college team. In case, Clark was surrounded and screened by defenders, she would then roll out her assists game. She averaged a whopping 8.2 assists per match in her four years despite being the key player with 28.4 points per game.
“So, I think that you know if…if she was to take the month off and or couple of weeks off instead of going to the Olympics, I think it’d probab,ly be better for her mental health wise but she is still the most popular player there is. I’m not saying best but most popular and you kind, of want to have that in the Olympics,” Dochterman advised.
The Summer Olympics are approaching near and Clark’s inclusion will depend a lot on her WNBA performance. For now, her spot looks a little uncertain but she is expected to make the cut. Meanwhile, Charles Barkley had also overtly stated, much like Dochterman, that Clark wasn’t the best player.
Charles Barkley dishes his perspective on Caitlin Clark
Barkley had criticized the WNBA athletes who were jealous of Clark. Though he didn’t take any names, he called their behavior “petty.” Barkley then came forward to defend his statements and enunciated that Clark wasn’t the best player but one of the most popular ones. Hence, the WNBA athletes should respect her for helping the league grow in revenue.
“Oh, tremendous. She’s got those women on private charters now. Is she the best player? No, she’s not the best player in the WNBA, but she’s a shining star. 90% of her games are going be on television I think; I don’t think the WNBA did her any favors. That team is not going to be very good. That just put too much pressure and that adds to the jealousy also to be honest with you. But the eyes and attention she’s bought to the game, give that lady her flowers,” Barkley stated.
