A’ja Wilson has been nothing short of phenomenal this season. Her record-breaking performances over and over again are a testament to what she adds to the already stacked Las Vegas Aces line-up. She has won almost every award and accolade that a player can win. From Rookie of the Year to winning MVP two times, she has shown no signs of slowing down.
In contrast with NBA players, Wilson stands shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the league’s best players. Following her latest DPOY award, she has again proved how good she is. Apart from being a terrific player, she is also humble as a player, especially one of her stature. For her DPOY award, she gave her 30-year-old teammate her flowers.

The Las Vegas Aces are eyeing a repeat of their 2022 championship run. Meanwhile, Wilson has won the WNBA DPOY for the second time in a row. If she went on to win the Finals, the MVP and the Finals MVP, it would be something that only Michael Jordan has achieved in professional basketball. But it wouldn’t come as a surprise to the people who have watched Wilson deliver incredible performances day in and day out.
Recently, when the winner was announced and the Las Vegas Aces shared the graphic on X, Wilson took the opportunity to bring the Aces center, Kiah Stokes into the spotlight.
She shared the original tweet with the message,
“Definitely scratching @kstokes41 name on the trophy before mine 😮💨🙌🏽 thank you for always having my back on my impulsive defensive decisions! tha true ⚓️“Definitely scratching @kstokes41 name on the trophy before mine 😮💨🙌🏽 thank you for always having my back on my impulsive defensive decisions ! tha true ⚓️ https://t.co/vrD0IyXcyc

For the Aces, Stokes has been very effective around the paint as the leading center. Throughout the season she has often times put effective screens for Wilson giving her room to shoot from beyond the three-point line.
But after all the incredible performances, was this Wilson’s best season in her career so far?

Legendary feats by the Aces Forward
Apart from winning DPOY, Wilson was also named on the WNBA All-Defensive First Team along with Brittney Sykes, Alyssa Thomas, Breanna Stewart and Jordin Canada. The 27-year-old was running hot on form against the Atlanta Dream in the regular season scoring 53 points, a record she matched with former Aces player Liz Cambage.
The Aces forward’s back-to-back win has only been achieved by NBA legends and greats. In 1991, Dennis Rodman became the only second player to win the award consecutively. He was matched by legend Hakeem Olajuwon ten years later. Since then, the exclusive list has expanded further by players such as Ben Wallace, Dwight Howard, Kawhi Leonard and Rudy Gobert.
