Monday night saw Unrivaled’s one of its biggest highlights—the 1-on-1 tournament. Fans had been waiting for this for a long, long time. The excitement? Off the charts. The plays? Insane. The thrill? Absolutely unmatched. But what really shook everyone? Some of the biggest stars in the game got straight-up embarrassed. First, Chelsea Gray against Shakira Austin. And then Breanna Stewart. Not just a loss—history was made, well—let’s just say, in a way Breanna Stewart would probably rather forget.
The night kicked off the first of three nights of 1-on-1 action. The tournament is structured as a 32-slot bracket, with 30 players competing and the top two seeds receiving byes. Jewell Loyd and Arike Ogunbowale, the No. 1 seeds, got to skip the first round.
Due to injuries, the field was cut down to 23. So instead of 14 matchups, the night featured eight, and let’s just say—it did not disappoint.

With 23 of Unrivaled’s 36 players in action, fans saw some of the best talent in women’s basketball go head-to-head. But the most shocking moment? Stewie got completely shut down by her Mist BC teammate Aaliyah Edwards. The final score was 12-0. Yes, you read that right.

The NY Liberty star couldn’t even get a single point on the board. And it was over in just 117 seconds (1 min 57 sec). That’s the fastest game in Unrivaled’s 1v1 history, the announcers confirmed.
Stewart started with possession in the make-it, take-it format, but missed a contested layup right off the bat. And Edwards wasted zero time making a statement. She drained a corner three, followed it up with a smooth jumper from the elbow, and just like that—it was 5-0 before anyone could blink.
A contested layup made it 7-0, and Edwards finally missed her first shot of the game. But even then, Stewart couldn’t capitalize. Edwards locked in on defense, blocking Stewart’s layup attempt and forcing a tough three-point miss. And then she went right back to work. A quick layup, another three—game over.
Just like that, history was made.
One of the most skilled and decorated players in women’s basketball, got blanked. Was it just an off night for the Unrivaled co-founder? Or is Edwards really built for this moment?
Breanna Stewart blanketed, Chelsea Gray falls & more 1v1 chaos
Monday’s Unrivaled 1v1 tournament was packed with eight intense face-offs. Some matchups went exactly as expected, but a few had jaws on the floor.
Let’s start with the predictable ones. Napheesa Collier wasted no time asserting her dominance over former UConn teammate Katie Lou Samuelson, racing to an 8-0 lead before sealing a 12-6 win. Kahleah Copper also got the job done, shaking off a slow start to take down Aliyah Boston, 11-6, with a seven-point run to close things out.
And Rhyne Howard had a bit of a rough time finding her shot, but thanks to some solid defense (two blocks and 12 rebounds!), she still walked away with a 12-7 win over Lexie Hull.

Then came the upsets. Shakira Austin absolutely stunned Chelsea Gray, overpowering her inside to secure a 12-2 win. The social media had thoughts—and not the kind Gray would want to see.

Rickea Jackson was just as dominant, steamrolling Jackie Young 11-3 after jumping out to a 7-0 lead. Skylar Diggins-Smith, meanwhile, had ice in her veins from deep, closing out her 11-3 win over Dearica Hamby with back-to-back threes.
