Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky aren’t just looking for talent—they’re searching for the missing piece. A playmaker who can orchestrate an offense, create opportunities, and elevate the team to championship contention. The Sky need a floor general, and with draft projections shifting, the battle to land her is heating up. Once expected to go No. 4, her stock has skyrocketed to No. 2, putting Chicago’s No. 3 pick in jeopardy of missing out. Can they make the move? Will the dominoes fall in their favor? And what does the star player at the center of it all think about Reese’s open admiration?

According to a recent post on X by Angel Report, titled “Olivia Miles on Angel Reese,” a reporter asked the Notre Dame guard about Reese’s admiration. “And I know Angel Reese out there,” the reporter began. “She’s also a big Olivia Miles fan. What makes her a monster?

Miles, chuckling, responded: “No, you know, she’s just a great player, you know, gives it all on the court and, um, a great teammate. She just, you know, hustles on every play. So I love watching her play.

It’s no surprise that Reese has been vocal about wanting to play alongside Miles. On a recent episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, where she was joined by WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, the conversation quickly turned to the 2025 draft class. “LA [meant to say Seattle Storm] is gonna be interesting with picks too, because Olivia Miles,” Leslie noted. But before she could finish, Reese jumped in: “We’re trying to get her.”

However, securing Miles will be no easy task. With mock drafts placing her no.2, the Notre Dame guard is expected to land with Seattle Storm.

The battle for Miles: Will Angel Reese and Chicago miss out?

Seattle acquired the No. 2 pick from the Sparks in a blockbuster three-team deal that sent franchise star Jewell Loyd to the Las Vegas Aces. With a gaping hole in their backcourt, the Storm are in prime position to select Miles as their next lead guard.

Lisa Leslie acknowledged the shift in draft dynamics, telling Reese, “She might up that stock. She might end up at two now.” If that prediction holds true, it could spell disappointment for Chicago.

That kind of firepower is exactly why Reese and the Sky are so eager to land Miles. The Notre Dame star isn’t just a scorer—she’s the engine behind the nation’s top-ranked team. Just ask her teammate, Hannah Hidalgo, who knows firsthand what it’s like to play alongside Miles.

If I score 15 this half, I can expect Liv to come out and she’s gonna start knocking down 3s,” Hidalgo said. “Now she’s gonna have 15 or 16 this half and even Soni [Sonia Citron] throwing in points, too. And Soni will have, like, 30, and you won’t even know it. So again, just pick your poison. We have so much firepower, especially with the guard play.

That backcourt dominance has Notre Dame sitting at 24-2 overall and a perfect 15-0 in the ACC, firmly holding the No. 1 spot in the AP poll. And at the heart of it all? Miles, whose ability to read the floor and control the game has drawn praise from her coach, Niele Ivey.

Olivia Miles has the best vision in the country,” Ivey said in a recent SportsCenter broadcast. Averaging 16.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.2 assists while shooting 52.5% from the field, she’s proving why she’s climbed to the No. 2 spot in the latest WNBA mock drafts. But with Chicago picking at No. 3, the Sky might find themselves just out of reach—unless they make a move to change that.
