Spirits were truly high in the Fever vs Storm game tonight, both on the court and off the court, quite literally. The hosts struggled to get ahead of the visitors in the first half, making Caitlin Clark hit the backboard and get a technical. On the other hand, the roaring 17,274 Indiana crowd in the Gainbridge Fieldhouse barely allowed the callers to announce the game. However, in the middle of this were the HCs, also in high passion. Noelle Quinn had a heated argument with Christie Sides in the final seconds, which she later explained.
As the game came to the one-minute mark, the Fever had already gotten the better of Seattle with no hopes of a comeback. Hence, in the end, Noelle Quinn cleared her bench. All of her starters came off the floor while her bench went on to end the clock. But Sides did not do the same. Reason? Apparently, the Fever head coach did not realize what Quinn had done until the timeout was over. Still, she called out for another timeout and corrected her ‘mistake’.
So, during the final seconds, it seemed like both head coaches approached each other for a handshake, however, it turned out to be the complete opposite and things got heated. But the dispute was settled soon enough. In the postgame press conference, Noelle Quinn addresses the conversation. She said, “I respect Christie. Been in this league for a long time and played for her in Russia. We were just having a spirited conversation about gamesmanship. That’s it.”

While the Seattle Storm head coach kept the postgame response cryptic, the two did hug it out at the end of the game. In the final quarter, Lexie Hull and Caitlin Clark’s duo won the game as they outlasted the visitors by 16 points. As a result, they also kept the Storm from having a season sweep over them. But about the argument, Christie Sides too kept her lips zipped.
Christie Sides takes the high road, as she keeps Noelle Quinn’s words a secret
One would want to know just what exactly the conversation between the two coaches was. Right? However, looks like we will not get that anytime soon. In the Fever’s postgame presser, reporters picked Sides’ brains on the same as well. However, the Indiana head coach too did not reveal anything. She told everyone, “Lot of respect for Noelle. That’s between her and I.”
The head coach quickly deflected the conversation by saying, “But my gosh! The fans, the wins, like we’re just excited. The spirit in the gym, the energy in the gym today. 16,000 people, right, I think that’s what it was tonight, so just, huge win for the Fever.”

Clearly, none of the two, Noelle Quinn or Christie Sides, want the fans to know what exactly went down. While the Indiana fans will have to sit out on this piece of tea, they do have a big reason to celebrate. The Fever now continues its 2-game win streak at home with above .500 teams, showing their preparation for the second half. Next, the Indiana squad will go to Minnesota to try and repeat their first-game heroics against the Commissioner’s Cup Champions.
Stay tuned for more such updates and join us for the exciting second episode of the “Dual Threat Show” as our host BG12 sits down with Georgia Bulldogs star and Mountain West All-Freshman Team Selection, Asia Avinger.
