The forward scored 29 points against the Sun, taking her season points total to 1000, a new high for the league. When Nike’s marketing was struggling back in 1984, it approached the golden rookie of that era- Jordan. During the meeting, the sports athleisure mogul presented the shoe design to the rookie, who rejected its colorway. This prompted Nike to make a deal with Jordan and give him a new shoe line, which was something that other brands like Adidas weren’t offering him. Thus, the Chicago Bulls giant instantly signed a deal with them and the rest is history.

When Wilson hadn’t dropped the news of her own shoe line, there was a lot of unrest among her fans. While popular WNBA stars such as Sabrina Ionescu and Angel Reese were busy signing deals with shoe brands, Wilson’s fans opined that the 2× WNBA MVP deserved to get her own sneakers. She wore the “Of Course I Have A Shoe Dot Com,” t-shirt in May during the Aces pre-season game in South Carolina, announcing the shoe line right where her basketball career trajectory rose.
