Seattle Storm’s Nika Muhl is one of the WNBA rookies who had a delayed debut this season. After missing the first four games of the season due to Visa issues, she walked into the arena in style on May 22, posing in what was sent by her dad as a joke and turning it around into a dazzling outfit. That night, the Storm overcame Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever with a close 85-83 victory. A day before last night’s win over the Washington Mystics, Muhl engaged with the reporters in a conversation that revolved around her pregame “approved” attire.

The UConn alumnae said, “Oh my God, I did not think that was gonna blow up the way it did, but um, yeah I mean, I like fashion. I’ve always been into it. My mom got me into it and I, you know, the pregame fits are new to me. The whole tunnel thing like I always love the idea of it.”

Further pointing out that one thing she hated at UConn, Muhl made a candid admission saying, “But you know at UConn we don’t do that stuff. So, it would always be a travel suit, which I hated, but now that I have this opportunity, you know. I just like you know being myself in that kind of way. My dad actually is a graphic designer and he made it, and kind of had this idea like I want to do something cool for my first game, you know for my debut.”

Muhl’s mom helped her style the whole thing. The former Husky did this only to get her mind off all the Visa issues. While Nika Muhl was facing issues regarding her visa approval, many came forward in her support, including the Chicago Sky’s rookie, Angle Reese.

Angel Reese showed her support for her fellow rookie

It was after Seattle’s loss against New York, and Muhl was still waiting for her visa to be approved. In practice, she was there, but it was killing her not being able to perform on the court. Meanwhile, the Chicago Sky rookie took the internet by storm and broke her silence while writing, “Get Nika her visa NOW, charter flights are HERE, give every team the same PUBLICITY cause it ain’t just one team, online bullying ain’t it AT ALL, and oh the CHICAGO SKY ARE HERE & ON THE RISE!”

Nika Muhl and the Storm didn’t disclose why her visa was taking longer to be approved in comparison to other international players. Being a native of Croatia, the former Husky guard had to go through a transition from a student visa to a work visa to get paid by the league. As a result, she had to make a 4-hour drive from Seattle to Vancouver in Canada to get her visa stamped officially to re-enter the country.
