Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner are the two mainstay players for the Phoenix Mercury, who will clash with the Washington Mystics on Tuesday at the Capital One Arena. For some time both were missing from the Mercury’s squad, hence there are a lot of speculations if the two will get a chance to ply their trade against the Mystics.
Today, EssentiallySports takes a detailed look into whether the duo will be able to take the court against the Mystics, a game that will decide where the Mercury campaign is heading.

The Mercury are not having the best of their time on the court. They have won 12 games and lost an equal amount. Meanwhile, the Mystics have won 6 and lost 18 games. In such a state of affairs for the Mercury, the team wouldn’t want to have an upset. And this can be avoided most probably if both of their stars – Taurasi and Griner get a chance to show their game.
While Griner had to be sidelined from the game against the Indiana Fever on Friday after a hip injury, as per AZ Central, Taurasi had to miss three consecutive games after a left leg injury. She played the game in early July against the Dallas Wings which the Mercury won by a 104-96 margin. Out of the three games that she missed against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Dallas Wings, and the Indiana Fever, the Mercury won two while losing against the Fever. Thus, her absence was felt.
Meanwhile, in the game against the Fever, as Griner could only play for 11 minutes, the team dealt with a double blow. Griner in that game scored a paltry 4 points, and the outcome did seem to indicate the abysmal state of affairs of the Mercury. However, the duo would be looking to give their best whenever they get the chance to take the court. But will they play against the Mystics?
Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi made a comeback against the Sun
Both Griner and Taurasi will most probably play against the Mystics. They made a comeback in the last game against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. Despite their efforts, the Sun won the game by a 96-69 margin. While Griner played for 31 minutes, Taurasi took the court for 25 minutes.

Will Diana Taurasi's return be the game-changer the Mercury need against the Mystics tonight?
Have an interesting take?
Griner scored 16 points and 9 rebounds missing her double-double by a singular rebound. Taurasi, on the other hand, added 6 points with an equal number of rebounds. What possibly cost them the game was Taurasi not getting a hand at her usual shooting. She attempted just 6 field goals hitting 2 of them and 5 three-pointers out of which she scored 2. Meanwhile, Griner scored 7 out of the 15 she attempted from the field.

Plus, since the duo has made the Team USA squad for the Paris Olympics, fans would also be excited to witness some spectacular performances from the two before the roster departs for Paris.
