The Las Vegas are champions in the truest sense. They won two back-to-back titles all thanks to their exceptional players like A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum, etc. As the season progresses, Wilson is on the verge of making another franchise record which is going to cement their claim to a third title. And now, the Aces have become the first franchise in WNBA history to have all home games sold out. Wilson will be taking court against the Washington Mystics on Saturday at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington and this time she would be making sure that she breaks a franchise record.

Wilson with her brilliant offensive and defensive play is inching close to another record which was recently tweeted by Across the Timeline on the social media networking platform X on Saturday.

As per the tweet, Wilson is only 2 rebounds away from Sophia Young-Malcolm’s 1,807 rebounds. If she adds two more rebounds then she will edge past Malcolm who has also played the highest minutes for the Aces which is 9258. Meanwhile, Wilson is placed at the third spot in the minutes played with 6283 minutes. Therefore, she is closer to breaking Malcolm’s record despite playing almost 3000 minutes less than Malcolm.

“A’ja Wilson is 2 rebounds behind Sophia Young-Malcolm (1,807 – 1st in Aces franchise history),” tweeted the Across the Timeline channel.

On the games forefront, Malcolm starred in 301 games whereas Wilson has only played 204 matches which is 97 games less than her rival in stats. It is to be noted that Malcolm was picked as the fourth overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in 2006. She was a 3x WNBA All-Star due to her brilliant performances. And as her stats reflect she was a mainstay for the Spurs before the franchise changed its name to Las Vegas Aces in 2018.

Overall, Malcolm averaged 14.3 points per game with 6 rebounds per match. Meanwhile, Wilson averages 20.5 points per game with 8.9 rebounds per match. Hence, there is no denying that Wilson looks to be moving aggressively not only in rebounds but also in points. And in this season, Wilson has shown positive intent in her on-song performances.

Wilson had previously become the first player to record 20 or more points in 16 consecutive matches, such is her consistency. She also had shown such bullish scoring ability that she reached 4000 career points as the third fastest WNBA star only behind Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart. She has also contributed exceptionally with her blocks by stopping a point in almost 18 back-to-back games. Therefore, there is no stat that Wilson can be trumped in this season. Looks like she is going for the MVP title this season, something she missed last year.

Overall, Wilson averages an extraordinary 28 points per game with 11.3 rebounds per match. And it will be interesting to see her break many more records in the upcoming games.

Meanwhile, fans will be waiting for the game against the Mystics with bated breath. On the other hand, Wilson will be hoping that she turns out to be the most prominent name to ever play for the Aces. She will be trying her best to outdo Malcolm both in longevity and quality.
