The Bayou Barbie, Angel is proving she’s a star both on and off the court. Even in the WNBA offseason, she’s making headlines. This time by stepping into the Super Bowl spotlight. Taking to X, Reese dropped an exciting announcement, saying, “I’m coaching Team Kai live at the Super Bowl Flag Football Game on YouTube. Tune in to see if I bring home the dub!”

But Angel Reese wasn’t done making history just yet! In a groundbreaking move, she reportedly signed a deal with McDonald’s, becoming the first female athlete ever to have her own meal on the iconic McDonald’s menu. Set to debut just one day after the Super Bowl, Reese shared, “It’s really a dream come true to be the first-ever female athlete to have my own meal and be a part of McDonald’s amazing basketball legacy.”

As she continues to expand her influence beyond basketball, fans have started questioning Angel Reese’s commitment to the game. This comes after she chose to coach Kai Cenat’s flag football team instead of participating in the Unrivaled 1v1 tournament, which offered a $200k prize for the winner!

Let’s take a look at the reactions and see how fans are responding to The Bayou Barbie’s latest move!

Fans make a mockery out of Angel Reese

It’s fair to say Reese’s next big off-season move didn’t receive the reaction she thought it would as many fans voiced their displeasure of the decision! One fan couldn’t help but question Reese’s knowledge of football, asking, they said, ” da-g what in the hell does this m- know about football let alone sports in general” While it’s okay to wonder what Reese knows about coaching but its important to understand that this is just a flag football game among celebrities, she didn’t get a real coaching gig!

One fan took X to express their displeasure and call her an influencer rather than an athlete, “Further proves what I’ve been saying lol she’s a damn influencer! Not a basketball player!” But is that really fair? While Reese’s off-court empire continues to grow, labeling her as anything less than a hooper ignores the facts. Unlike many stars who opted to rest this offseason, Reese actually suited up for Unrivaled, proving she’s still locked in on basketball. Yes, she’s building her brand but that is because the WNBA athletes are massively underpaid.

Some fans took their criticism even further, suggesting Reese should be hitting the gym instead of coaching. One fan bluntly wrote, “I swear she’ll do anything besides work on her layups in the gym,” while another took a jab at her shooting, saying, “If they are playing with bricks, she will be a big help.”

It’s no secret that Reese isn’t known for her shooting, she shot just 15.6% from beyond the arc in college and currently sits at 18.8% in the WNBA. But here’s the thing, Reese was never about shooting. What makes her a force on the court is her defensive tenacity and elite rebounding. She averaged a dominant 13.1 boards per game last season.

Despite the backlash from some fans questioning her focus and skills, Angel Reese continues to prove she’s much more than just a basketball player! Whether on the court or off, she’s carving out her own legacy while balancing her sports career with a growing brand that challenges the norm.
